What is the difference between "Music" and "Music Stream" for the Essence / A9 (in Beomusic App)?
When I play music from the iOS Library on the phone, the subtitle for the track playing states "iOS Library" in the BeoMusic App.
When I play music from my music server, the subtitle for the track playing says "Music Stream" in the BeoMusic App.
When I activate the Essence from the BV11 (another post about that coming shortly), I have the CD button on the Beo4 Mapped to "Music" but when I open the BeoMusic app, the subtitle states "Music Stream" for whatever is playing.
Additionally, there is no "Music" showing on the source selections on the topmost selection menus of the BeoMusic App, there's a "Music Stream"
Finally "Music" and "Music Stream" are both different selectable source options in BeoSetup / Your Content / Sources.
Can someone please explain what Music and Music Stream are?
Hi Sal,
To my understanding, "music" is what is stored on the device that runs the app.
"Music stream" is what is stored elsewhere (NAS, internet...).
This may be trivial, but when the files are on the device, this device (telephone, tablet...) must be "on" and connected to your network...
Otherwise, and this is one of the assets of DLNA, once the command has been sent to the music server (DMS) and the Essence/A9 (DMR/DMP), you may turn your device "off" (ence, no battery drain) or go out of your network reach, the show goes on

Thank you CB, this makes sense to me now.
In that case, I'm actually going to remove/disable "Music" from the Source order listing in the settings for both my Essence and A9, as there's no music stored on those devices themselves. I wish, though that removal / disabling of sources in the settings also carried over to the listings of sources in the main screen of the BeoMusic App.
When I write "stored on the device that runs the app", I mean your telephone or your tablet with the BeoMusic app !
Sal: I wish, though that removal / disabling of sources in the settings also carried over to the listings of sources in the main screen of the BeoMusic App.

My thinking exactly. And I find it rather confusing that it doesn't.
