I have an Avant 32 DVD connected to 2x BL 8000, 2x BL 6000 and Subwoofer. It's also connected to Overture via Masterlink. Sky HD box connection via scart.

When watching Sky or DVD, then selecting Radio/CD the system selects ok with sound playing as it should. After a short time (15sec to a few mins) there's a loud crack noise across the speakers then all external speakers shut down (red light on all). The Overture stays lit but no sound.

Selecting TV/DVD/SAT combinations does nothing through Beo 4 remote. When power is switched off to Avant it sometimes recovers but lately it doesn't and I can't hear the spring type start up noise. The LED display on top right displays TV1 and the Beo 4 has no effect.

A rectangular shape has also been seen in centre of screen on switch off late at night. Is this a sign of tube failure?

I have recently been disconnecting the circuit board on the end of the tube and it fires up ok. I do this for a few seconds, remove power, reconnect, and it starts ok again.

Ive had the Avant for approx 16 years and don't want to part with it as picture is perfect and sound is fabulous. I have been considering a used BV7-32 but not sure if it's viable to keep it with its current problems and I can't easily find a TV engineer here in Inverness area.

Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you.
