Dear B&O friends,

I have a B&O Beocenter 2100 which works great. The radio works fine, but I have some problems with the cassettedeck. When I press the "PLAY" button, the tape runs fine and I hear music from both channels. But I also hear a loud and irritating buzz from both channels. The VU-meter shows +3dB continuously, whether there is music on the tape or not.

I thought, maybe the REC/PLAYBACK switch is dirty, so I started looking for a large switch, but I couldn't find it.

Then I started looking for a sevice manual for this Beocenter 2100, but there isn't one online for free.

So I downloaded the service manual for the Beocenter 4000, because he looks very similar to me.

In the 4000, the REC/PLAYBACK is switched with a relay. But I couldn't find a relay either in my 2100 (except for the two large speaker relays).

Is the REC/PLAYBACK switched electronically with an IC?

Does anyone have a service manual for the Beocenter 2100? Or does anyone have tips to get rid of this very irritating buzz sound when I play my cassettes?

Maybe this is a common failure? Maybe some faulty electrolytic caps on the playback circuit board?

Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Nick

If you upgrade your membership to silver or gold, the full 55 page service manual is available on site for the 4000/2100 Beocentres.

I know Ron, and maybe I'll do that.

But I already have the service manual of the Beocenter 4000. And I think It has the same circuitry inside (except for the extra cassette deck).

Or am I wrong? If so, I will upgrade my membership.

Kind regards,

Nick.
