I inherited a Beogram RX and ordered a new SMMC 4 cartridge from Soundsmith. I installed the cartridge and balanced it.  When I push the 33 button the turntable starts and the tonearm moves to the edge of the LP drops down at the proper place to play then automatically resets itself.

I cannot move the tonearm back to the LP there is too much resistance.  I do not have a manual and do not know if I can adjust anything under the platter  or on the tonearm.

Any suggestions or advice is much appreciated.

I have an RX2 the refuses to move along and track correctly also. It resets if I cue it anywhere near the grooves. Hope you fix your TT. Best of luck

Thank you. I have completed a thorough cleaning and ordered a new belt. Hopefully this will correct the situation. I will post an update
