Finally hoped that B&O had gotten their software act together and bought my first 'modern' B&O product - an A6.
After a fairly painless setup I launch the BeoMusic app and see a ludicrous amount of sources.
IOS Library
TuneIn
Deezer
Spotify
ALL my Sonos components (6 of them)
Line-In
Q-Play
Airplay
Music Stream
Bluetooth
iOS dock
From what I can tell it is impossible to disable any of these sources (in the BeoSetup app I can disable them for a particular device but that does not seem to carry over to the BeoMusic app)
Do I really have to see all of these sources every time I launch the App?!?! Come on Q-Play is only available in China! And who uses BOTH Spotify and Deezer.
Feels pathetic. I so so so want B&O to get their act together. I would gladly replace many many Masterlink rooms with modern hardware if all this worked nicely.
Am I stupid and missing something or is this really how it is supposed to work?
So hoping I have it wrong...
Unfortunately, thats the way it works. I have given the same feedback to B&O, and hope for a change in coming releases.
Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen: Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom: M3 Homeoffice: M3, Beocom 2 Library: Beosound Emerge, Beocom 6000 Bedroom: M5, Essence remote Travel: Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay EQ, Beoplay Earset
I just wonder whether the Beomusic product manager is actually using the app? Horrible.
Isn't great is it? I've gone from using Deezer's app at home to playing Deezer through Beomusic and it's quite a step down!
Where is the best place to send B&O feedback? To my dealer potentially?
BeoVision Eclipse 55”, Beolab 18s, Beolab 19s, Beosound 1, Beoplay P2, H3, BeoRemote One IR, BeoRemote One BT, Beoplay S8, Beosound Essence MkII, BeoTime
In another post I suggested matching the displayed sources with only those that are enabled in the Settings in Beosetup. Hope someone is listening at B&O.

BeoCare at B&O's website
BeoNut since '75
the people working on the app already know
I use beta versions and issued a remark about this a month ago
Do people believe B&O will be able to get their act together and come up with an app that is competitive in the market? Good news is the hardware platform does seem to be coming together.
On a related note, I bought my A6 at a B&O owned shop (not a franchise) and their knowledge of the app and how it worked was shockingly minimal. They didn't know what Q-Play was, they had no idea if you could remove sources, etc.. They claimed that headquarters wouldn't pay for a Deezer or Spotify account and they had to use their personal account (thus they didn't have a Spotify login to show how their hardware worked with the world's largest streaming service....)
Shame.

1: I see no reason, why not.
But don't forget - you have decided to buy the products of a rather small company with limited R&D power.
Things may take longer at B&O - be patient (is my advice).
2: This is a very bad experience - it seems to be a retailer (or at least a salesman), who should rethink, whether he should be selling B&O products or not!
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

But don't forget - you have paid a premium price for a luxury product.
Small companies with limited R&D power should not charge that much.
There are several changes that I would like to see in BeoMusic that could make my experience much better. Some I have reported, but I have no idea if anyone is even considering them.
I wonder if there would be any benefit to having a thread containing bugs and enhancements for BeoMusic so all of our desires can be found by B&O (since I know they read this forum) in one place!
I think that is an excellent idea, especially as it is probably the single most important thing defining B&O future.

Defending B&O at all cost as always
Just being realistic!
And I certainly did not defend the practices of the mentioned B&O dealer.
Rolls Royce is a miniscule company but they don't bring out premature ill thought out underdeveloped products. Come on B&O, you know you can do better!
.
Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
Rolls Royce (cars) might not be the best example as they essentially went bankrupt and are now owned by BMW (you can read the full interesting story of how Volkswagen thought they were buying the company but forgot to buy the brand name in 1998!)
BUT I totally agree with your point. Sonos WAS a minuscule company a few years ago. But they were hyper focused and had a vision for where the market was going. They also had a few (that's all it takes) very talented software engineers.
B&O's design is great. The sound is very good. And if they could just get the software to work I think they could get a big chunk of the higher end market back. At least I hope so...
Fair point....
I am about to pull the trigger to upgrade to NL / multi-room and will then need to rely on the BeoMusic app. This post makes me a bit worried about the design and usage of the BeoMusic app. Has above issue been addressed in the meantime?
Also, one related question. How does the TuneIn and the Spotify/Deezer streaming work? Does it stream from the phone to the devices or does it send a signal and all multi-room devices stream on their own.
The latest version fixes the issue of showing unavailable choices in content source list (e.g. Qplay, etc).
Deezer/TuneIn are streamed directly from the cloud to the product, and from there distributed over multiroom. The BeoMusic App is only a "UI" for controlling the system. The music does not go through the smartphone
steve1977: also, Spotify not supported on speakers over beolink ml/nl converter yet? and Apple Music not at all, right? deezer and tunein can be distributed to nl/ml converter?

Correct. No Spotify over Masterlink. No Apple Music embedded, And Deezer and Tunein can go over the NL/ML.
