Hi All,
I'm hoping this is a simple question - but my research has not found a satisfactory answer so I thought I would ask it here.
I've got a Beosystem 7000 and I'm wanting to add a couple of extra link rooms. However the layout of the house does not lend itself to easily running cables without damaging the decor. I have a spare BeoLink active - and a Beolink converter type 1611, however I'm now thinking that it might just be easier to use BeoLink Wireless 1. It would also mean I could move the equipment to another link room if I wanted to at a later stage
I've looked at the documentation and Beosystem 7000 is not listed as compatible with BeoLink wireless. However - would it work if I connected the transmitter up through the Beolink Converter?
Thank you for your help
Mark
Does nobody know whether BeoLink wireless will work via a BeoLink converter 1611?
I do not know the answer - but as a 7000 system owner will be interested to hear the responses from someone that does know!
Otherwise I may just have to dip my toe in the wireless water!
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work - but I've not been able to find anything online from someone who has actually done it.
B&O's support documentation says the 7000 system is not supported - and of course it wouldn't be natively as it doesn't have MasterLink provision. The 1611 converter addresses that limitation so I don't see why it wouldn't work with the converter plugged into the aux link of the BeoMaster and the Wireless 1 chained to the converter with a MasterLink cable. I wouldn't have thought that the wireless module would know/care what specifically was on the other side of the converter
I'm tempted to try it but trial and error gets expensive quickly with B&O lol
It might be worth downloading the "configuration tool" programme from the downloads section and putting in what you'd like to do. At least that way you should be able to see if it is theoretically possible.
I use Wireless 1's and they work really well for me (although I have a BS 9000 and BV 5, both of which already have masterlink). One very important thing to note is that all the Wireless 1's must have the same software version to work. I bought my first pair from 2 different sources and couldn't get them to work. only by lots of searching and testing did I find out one had old software and the other had the latest.
I have Beolab 12's on one receiver, a Beolab 2000 outdoors (I made a portable project) on another and a Beosound 8 on a third.
Good luck, Stoobie.
Hi Stoobie,
Thanks for the info - that's very helpful. I was not aware of the software version limitation so I'll make sure I get a matching pair if it looks like this set up will work.
Would you mind giving me a link to where I can download the 'configuration tool' from please? I've searched the site and I cannot seem to find it...
The portable BeoLab 2000 sounds like a great idea. I have a spare one that I'm not using so I will have a look at putting something together :)
Thanks again
Mark,
Hi Mark,
The Config Guide Tool is available to gold and silver members and will then be found in this section.
Of course with the Wireless 1's you should go for the newest software if you can. A dealer can upgrade them really easily as they just need to connect to a PC in store, upgrade the software and it's done. So if you get two that don't match you can get them both updated!
Here is my Beolab 2000 project and here are some photos. I just wish I was better at bending the aluminium handle. I had a much nicer design in mind when I started trying to bend it. But not having the proper tools etc I just put it in a vice and used pliers to grip it (with a thick scrap of fabric between the pliers and aluminium so I didn't damage it). and bent is as best I could. It is not exactly symmetrical, but only I notice that and it makes it easy to carry.

Hi Again Mark,
I have just looked up the Beolink Converter on the Product Details page of the site and it specifically mentions the Beomaster 7000 as being compatible. So by the looks of things it should work as the Wireless 1s are little more than a Masterlink Cable with no wire.
Thanks Stoobie - that's great :D
I'm going to go for this now and try and track one down.
I thought your Beolab 2000 project looked very good. One of the reasons I want the wireless it to allow me to move the link room speakers around the house without having to run wires. Your idea is the next logical step and I do like the idea of being able to take something outside. I wonder if there is way to dispense with the Wireless 1's 'case' and integrate the components more closely?

I had the same thoughts (on a different project) and had a defective Wireless 1 that I opened up to look at and the component board inside is quite big and I cannot remember how the sockets were linked inside but I couldn't see any way to make the case much more compact so when I made my Beolab 2000 I just bit the bullet and mounted it as per the pictures you've seen.
