Hi,
Currently, all the B&O stuff that I owned are NL based, Moment, Essence MK2 and A6. The multiroom function works with all 3.
I am thinking of adding the iconic Beosound 9000 into the mix. It would be used as a pure stand alone CD player, distributing to the other 3, what would be the best choice, a Beolink NL/ML convertor or Essence Mk2? The Beosound will be place in a different location from the other 3, hence using the line-in of any one of them is out.
There is very little information that I can find on the Beolink NL/ML convertor. I am hoping anyone one can help me with the following question:
1) Does the Beolink NL/ML convertor comes with Wifi or only wired ethernet connection?
2) Does it support multiroom?
3) Can I control the Beosound 9000 via apps like BeoMusic thru Beolink NL/ML convertor . Or is there some other apps that I can use? What kind of control is there, like selecting CD, skipping track? I do not intent to get the B&O remote control.
Any thoughts on the pros and cons of either the Beolink NL/ML convertor or Essence Mk2?
Thank you very much.
YW
A: It uses wired connection
A: Yes, it does support Multiroom
A: I think you can use the BeoMusic to control your Beosound 9000.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hi Zerocool and MM,
Thanks for the answers, I think I have decided which direction to go.
I have gotten a pre-own BLC NL/ML. I am a problem updating the the SW. I have seen previous posting of about this issue.
I am able to connect to BLC via web interface as well as Beomusic and Beosetup.
When I tried “Check available version” or “Update”, the “Update Status” remains as “Unknown”. Current SW version is 1.4.0.18322. The automatic update is enabled. System log shows that it is connected to B&O Server on initial power up.
I have connected my iPhone to line-in of BLC, it is able to distribute to the NL product that it is connected to primary.
Has anyone experience this before, and knows the solution for this problem?
Thank you.
I would factory reset the NL/ML converter.
press the button in the hole aside the green led. After the 5th red sign release the pin you use to push the button. Within 3 sec repress the button. Then update to the newest version.
Note if you didn't make a backup to restore the setup after factory reset, you have to setup the NL/ML converter again.
Hi Carolpa,
Have tried that. The setting when back to default, however, still unable to update SW.

I have forgotten whether the LAN was attached when I did the factory reset, I will try again without the LAN. There are no ML cable attached to BLC at the moment, still waiting for cable to arrive from Sounds Heavenly.
2 months ago I had an convertor that wouldn't update. I had to do it manually with the Service Tool
If you're unlucky, yours could have the same problem
I think I have the same problem. From system log its show that it can connect to B&O time server, and the time does sync on power up, so I think the network connection is ok. Is the service tool and SW downloadable from internet? Or my only choice is take the BLC down to the service centre?
Got impatient double click and double posted.
After send the BLC to the service centre for 2 weeks, it was fixed. The mainboard was replace. I was shock when I saw the bill. But luckily although I bought it used, the 3 year warranty is still valid, so I do not have to pay anything.
Can anyone tell me what is the meaning of "A Master" and "V Master"? It seem that only for "V Master" the BS9000 icon is selectable for BeoMusic. I just intend to connect the BLC to BS9000 and distribute the CD source to other NL devices. No speaker is connected to the BS9000.

At start I did find these remarks also confusing.
Thumb of rule is:
if you choose V.Master for the BLC, NL thinks in the ML system it, the BLC is the Video master. Therefor you have the audio sources available for the NL system. This is the reason you have the BS9000 icon.
if you choose A.Master for the BLC, NL system thinks in the ML system the BLC is the Audio master; you have the Video sources of ML available as sources for the NL (the BS900 icon isn't shown).
in your setup I would choose V.Master (or A.Slave)
I have finally installed the BS9000 and got the multi room working. I would like to thank Lifetstyle AV, STB Brackets and Sounds Heavenly for making this possible.
The control from BeoMusic app was limited. I am unable to select which CD to play. I am wondering if this is the limitation or I did not configuring the BLC correctly. I also tried the BeoRemote app but I can only start the CD player. Is Beo4 remote control the only way to change CD?
BeoNut since '75
From what I read in BS9000 manual, on the Beo4 remote, up down forward and reverse the track on the same CD. Left right move the carriage to the next CD.
I tried using the BeoRemote app which have the arrow keys but it does not work.
While my setup is ML based and with my Moment as the only NL product, I've set the BLC ML Role to Source Center which then makes the communication and control to my BS9000 totally transparent . So when pressing CD on my Beo4 I can without any problem choose which CD I want to listen to by pressing 1-6 on the remote.
