I'm trying to connect my BeoSound Essence to a BeoLink Passive's PL socket to drive some outdoor speakers. I'm using a PowerLink DIN/RJ45 cable (B&O part #: 6270017). It doesn't work. The passive's LED indicator stays red.
I've read in the archive that one must use a PowerLink Mk2 cable for this to work. Therefore, either the B&O cable isn't wired as a Mk2, or my Passive's PL socket is broken (bought the passive used a few years ago and had been using the ML socket successfully). The PL/RJ45 cable does have a thicker wire which I thought was one of the characteristics of a Mk2.
Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks,
Stan
I found the answer. The 6270017 is not wired to work with a Passive. The RJ45/DIN cables that work with the passive are 6271125 (5 m) and 6271126 (10 m)... and Sounds Heavenly has some cables like this, too.
