Dear members,
I was at the High End in Munich today and to my surprise for the first time saw B&O there. Small stand with the opportunity to audition the Beolab 90s. I have to say that I was very impressed by the performance of the Beolab 90s. Definitely the best performance I have heard at the event today. Geoff Martin was also there. Very nice and caring people and overall inconspicuous but nonetheless great presentation. I liked it a lot and it sort of saved my visit today, which in terms of speakers didn't really leave much of an impression on me. The Beolab 90s were definitely the highlight.
Cheers,
Kai
Unfortunately not. I don''t have a Smartphone and didn't expect to see B&O there. It was really a small stand but I'd highly recommend a visit there for those who are located nearby. Tomorrow is the last day, I think. Cheers
As a B&O fan, I'm biased. But having all these high-end manufacturers there, and being able to compare, the Beolab 90s for me still stood out. What's more, there were a couple of flat panel speakers. It's very hard to tell because of the different surrounding conditions, but my Beolab 5000 seemed to impress me more. Just an impression.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit, some of the most godawful sound I've ever heard has been from high end products at high end shows. Even when they spent a lot of money on room treatments. I think a lot of high end stuff is really atrocious, but a lot of people buy them because, well, if they think they sound bad it must be them, they are by such and such a brand and all the high end magazines rave about them.
I was at a high end show in Chicago once, and ye gods the sound was mostly bad. Then I wandered in the Fried room, and Bud Fried himself was in there hawking his speakers. Not expensive, with middle of the road Harman Kardon receivers and CD players used, with out of the box cables and regular 16 gauge zip cord. Sounded just incredibly good, smooth, open, great imaging and not ear bleeding highs. Wish I could have said the same about the Thiel, Wilson Audio, and other rooms.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Totally agree. There were a couple of good ones though too and it was very interesting going there. The Beolab 90s certainly delivered.
However, I'm still perfectly satisfied with my Penta 2s ;-) Great sound for the money - used that is.
Cheers.
I hope Geoff had time for tasting the Munich beer as well ;-)
A Maß or two :-))

There is a tv - and there is a BV
BeoBoy68:Did you made photos to share with us ?
How about these?
@Kai - why didn't you introduce yourself as a Beoworlder? Or did you - and I was too busy humming along with Foo Fighters to notice? If so, I apologise...
@MM: at least two...
cheers

Dear Geoff,
I'm sorry. I felt like it was a mistake not staying for longer and approaching you. I was sitting in the room when there was a guy who seemed important - maybe from the press or something. So you were understandably busy showing what the speaker can do to him. I decided to stay unobtrusvie but I'm a little shy by nature anyway. My introductory question would have been about how your Beogram 4500 is doing. Then you would have immediately known that I'm a fellow Beoworlder ;-)
When I left the room with the Beolab 90s I talked to one of your colleagues for quite some time. It was a very nice conversation. Still, I would have loved to introduce myself - in particular since you seem to be such a nice guy. Overall, I liked the presentation a lot. It was really an intimate atmosphere and the people at the stand were humble and caring for the audience/customers. I always feel a little bad because I buy most of my stuff used. I simply don't have the money to buy much new. But my place is already full of B&O and I share my passion with whomever I talk to. I'm convinced that B&O have been doing so many things right over the last couple of years in what I would consider tremendously difficult market conditions. I really hope it will pay off. I find it pitiful that the world is what it is nowadays in terms of what sells and what doesn't.
And, of course, the Beolab 90 was hands down the best speaker that I have heard that day. There was another one, which I forgot what brand it was made by, that I liked a lot. But the Beolab 90 were definitely top notch. The only thing that came to my mind is, what "Wintersun" by Brendan Perry from the album Ark would have sounded like on the Beolab 90s. It's probably my favorite recording by audiophile standards and can make many much less impressive speakers sound amazing.

Who else did recommend it? I have the CD and it's great. No matter whether you like the music or not, for testing and presenting speakers it's one of the best rcordings that I know of. Cheers, Kai

Listening to 'Over' by 'Wolven' who are a young group of local musicians. It's a track which I first heard played on the BL90's in my local store.A great track and beautifully produced.http://listentowolven.bandcamp.com/track/overMartin.

There were a lot of instances like that - we had some scheduled visitors that needed special attention, but for the most part, we didn't want to lock everyone else out. Anyways - sorry I was inaccessible.

Martin.
Yeah, I don't think you'll find that one on any streaming service unfortunately (hence the link). As I understand it, the band members are students at the local college, and the band member who did the production for the track in his home studio is a fan of B&O (and the BL90s in particular) so took the track into the Exeter store and asked if he could listen to it on the BL90s.
As such it ended up on the store NAS and having heard it when I was in the store at the weekend, I was sufficiently impressed to go looking for it online when I got home (and spend £1.20 to buy it in lossless format to add to my collection)

I was also at Munich last week and I finally got to hear the Beolab 90s for the first time. To say I was not disappointed would be an understatement and I agree that they made the best sounds of the entire show.
It was also great to have a chat with Geoff about them and hear some of the story of how they came about.
