Hi, just after some opinions, I currently have BL8000 connected to BM6500 which is fed with a playmaker, turntable, internet radio, BGCD6500 and a revox tape recorder. I have a relatively small listening room but am considering adding a BL2 to boost up the speakers - I have a pair of Penta Beovox's elsewhere and miss the deeper bass and better mid range. So will a BL2 boost the bass and allow the BL8000's to concentrate on mids and treble better? I'd be interested in hearing the opninions of others who have tried this combination - I dont listen to music that loud and dont have the bass in the middle.
I had that combo as my main speakers years ago. And yes, it`s an improvement in the bass. I wouldn`t call it a "boost", because it really expand the frequency range without being a "boom box"...
If you connect your BL8000s via BL2 (BM65000 - >BL2 -> BL8000) the BL8000s will sound more transparent. But this won`t change anything in the midrange. I recommend the BL2/BL8000 combo. I still have them - as surround speakers in my main room.

Yes! It will make a substantial difference. I have owned the BL2 and it is very powerful and tight. Adds a new dimension to your speakers. I would definitely recommend adding.
BL2 is a substantial change, do try all the settings on the sub.

Hi all - I am back in london and listening to the Penta Beovox's and was just going to ask exactly the same question as Leosgonewild as I coyuld move them round, but if the BL8000 and BL2 is a better combination then that's the path to take. I guess some of it may depend on the room - the Penta's are in a bigger room with high ceilings and carpeted. The BL8's in a small property with lower ceilings and wooden floors.
I don't know how they sound relative to the pentas, but I always thought adding the BL2 to my BL8000s was one of my most satisfying B&O purchases. It really improves the sound. It is worth the time to get the BL2 setup appropriately. It can be boomy is not correctly placed.

Hi, I have ordered it and it arrives on Thursday so will report back - will definitely play with the settings. Decided to leave the penta beovox's in london as they are connected to a BM5500 so would have to swap everything over. Hoping that the BL2 provides that missing something that the Penta's had.
I also bought a Beogram 6002 as I have a practically new soundsmith MMC4 cartridge given to me by a friend so really looking forward to the weekend when I can hear them properly. I got fed up with manual Thorens and all the setting up and no automatic functions - it's good turntable but if you are listening to it in another room it's too easy to forget and wear the stylus out - let see if the 6002 is a better machine. Hope so.
Don`t forget to use an MKII/III (?) Powerlink cable - the one with the extra earthing - to connect your BM with BL2.

Just thought I would follow up - the Beolab 2 arrived but was damaged in transit - a very big thanks to QDA for coming out and replacing the driver unit - I have it working now and it has transformed the sound of the Beolab 8000's - definitely the most satisfying improvement I have ever made - everything is so much clearer now and the bass lovely and deep without being boomy. So a very big thank you to everyone who helped me make up mind and especially Ray and QDA for providing excellent after sales service.
The BG6002 is also a massive improvement in terms of convenience, usability, styling and everything else, very satisfied. I did find though that plugging in through the playmaker made it sound muffled so now it goes through it's preamp and then Phono - how it should be I guess - maybe mismatching between the preamp and the playmaker.
