I have the option to trade my complete Beosystem 7000 to one of the latest BS/BM5's
It has a 1 TB disc, and should not have problems with the motherboard(has not been changed though) ?
My BS7000 contains a mint Beogram 7000 with a newly restored MMC2 pickup, and the rest is also in almost perfect condition.
I also have the Beo6, so the BS5 could work with the 2 way albums and so on.
Is the BS5/Beo6 stable, how is the performance of the latest Beomaster 5's and so on ? How about the radio stations available, Deezer and so ?
Could someone that owns the BS/BM5 give me some hint whether this system is still any good ?

Hi, I have the latest BS5/BM5-combo and it works perfect. I havent found any software-bugs. I use it with my Beolab 5:s and feed the labs 5 with digital-cable directly to the speakers. The sound quality is amazing and very good. If you compare all the problems the Beosound Moment has, the Beosound 5 is a very "mature" product in its functionality and realiability.
It is a very good product today with the latest software!

Is it still getting updates, and do we have any idea on spares for it in the future ?
How about the noise from the Beomaster 5 ? Is it noticable and is it getting hot ? I might have to put it in a drawer in my furniture.
My advice is simple: Keep the Beosystem 7000 and add a Beosound Essence MK2.

I don`t think, there will be updates with new features, but my BS5 is automatically activated on thursday nights , maybe to update radio stations...(?)
Get the BS5, but keep the BS7000 - that`s what I did
And no, it is not noisy, and it won`t get hot, I have mine in a cupboard, too
The CD ripper is very helpful - and it works great with Beo6.
Stefan
Thanks
I have actually put up the BS7000 for sale on the web in Denmark, but I am starting to get second thoughts about selling it... Although I rarelly(almost never) use the Beogram/Beogram-CD and Beocord, it is still a very cool looking system, and the power from the Beomaster is still ample for me and the Beovox Penta's
I love my BS5 simple as that. People still go "wow" when they first see it.
BUT it did have to go to the doctor's a couple of years ago when it started to freeze when playing Spotify. It needed a new motherboard. It recently did the same thing and the doctor is making a house-call on Friday. I suspect it is the same problem requiring the same solution.
To answer one of your specific questions Deezer is not available natively on the BS5 but Spotify is. However you really need to combine your use of Spotify with say an i-pad as the Spotify functionality directly through the BS5 interface is limited.
Oh........ and I would hang onto that BS 7000 personally. A mint turntable/cartridge sounds like it will only become more desirable over time.

Guess this is as good a time as any, and a very appropriate thread... Should I hold my breath for B&O to develop another sound system, or bite the bullet, look for a good BS5/BM5 deal on eBay and buy it. I continue to want something more than the essence, but less than the Moment. Does B&O still support the software that uploads music to the BM5?
Thanks for all your answers :)
If I decide to keep the 7000, and after all your comments, I probably will, then I might just go for the Beosound 5 Encore ?
Can someone quickly tell me the major difference ? I don't need link and so on, will the 2-way still work with Beo6, and MOTS and so on ?

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
While B&O is not adding any new features to the BeoSound 5, they are doing a great job of still supporting it. The "BeoConnect" mac app is just a simple app that transfers the music files over to the BeoMaster 5 hard drive. BeoConnect still works great, but even if it has didn't there are other ways to get the music over to your BeoMaster 5.
The BeoSound 5 does everything that I need it to do. I personally don't like having to use my iPhone -- therefore, I don't find the Essence to be attractive. However, if you do want to use your iPhone, you can connect an Airport Express to the Aux input and BAM -- you have Airplay. Another great use of the Aux input is to connect a BeoGram turntable. I Have a BeoGram 9500 connected to mine. The BeoSound 5 and the BeoGram 9500 each sit atop a BeoSystem 1 cabinet. It seems as if they were all designed to go together perfectly.
I love the Spotify integration. You can even save favorite albums, artists, playlists, etc,. from Spotify and trigger them with macros from the Beo6 and/or MLGW/BLGW.
With the prices of the true BeoSound 5 as reasonable as they are now, I can't imagine anyone trying to save a few bucks to buy the watered-down Encore. You definitely don't have the 2-way Beo6 communication with the Encore. The Beo6 control is just VERY COOL! You can search your library from the Beo6 and you get continuous cover-art on the Beo6 to show what is playing.
I forgot to mention that recently one of my favorite N.Radio stations changed its source. I called B&O tech support and they updated the N.Music library to the updated source - JUST FOR ME. Amazing customer service!
Hi Weebyx
I have a Resound 5/ Master 1tb with the CD Ripper. I also have a bio 6 remote.
For me the system works well . I have my digital music collection on the master mostly in WMA or FLAC.
I use integrated Spotify often (though can't say the premium sound is great)... Hoping they do a lossless upgrade soon?
The system is easy to use and despite it being older technology always wows visitors with its looks and flexibility of NMUSIC, NRADIO, SPOTIFY and CD.
Setting up specific playlists doesn't always work well, so for specific parties i make a list on my iTunes library and just stream it via my master which is an AVANT TV.
For me the this system is still a classic B&O product aesthetically.. probably the last of the music systems that are in my view.
Good luck!!
David

If they can update the BS5 with fast forward and rewind FOR EVERYBODY it's will be realy amazing.
We have had our BM5 when it was released and added the BS5 afterwards. We are very happy with the product, it works quite well for us and the software is very stable.
After we moved to Sydney I mailed B&O and asked if the Nova radio stations could be added, and within a week we had them (for all cities), quite a nice service.
From our point the software is close to perfect, we only wished a few more enhancements, but we can very well live with without these, as there are alternative ways to accomplish the need.
I would not hesitate to get one, and the alu control is very B&O stylish.
Forgot to mention that as I had one of the first BM5 versions, I also had the motherboard replaced. And the harddrive replaced/upgraded to 1TB.

Fully agree, we bought ours in early 2009 - for some years now, the system is very stable. We added the CD ripper (more to have longterm backup as a CD player). Motherboard was replaced in 2009, 2011 and 2013, since then it is stable.
I hope that B&O has some replacements parts incl motherboard still around to support the value of the investment longerterm.
It is interesting to note that on the Lifestyle AV site a 7 year old BS5 is selling for £1,895 whilst a 12 month old Moment is £500 cheaper.
It says something about the desirability of the former item.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Very happy with mine too.
I bought it in 2009, and yes, the system is very stable.
Motherboard was replaced in 2009. No problem since then.
I was ready to swap for a Moment but...
Agree, the 3 aluminium wheels are very B&O-esque... ! :-)))
And the simple GUI, the large covers, ...
Pity B&O don't propose an upgrade for a SSD with warranty.
