I recently bought a Beogram 2202 record player. It works fine so far except one problem. When I hit the "pause"-button the tonearm lifts and the  platter stops turning as it should. However the tonearm is not fixed in its position but starts drifting in direction start posiition. It looks like the arm is pulled by the antiskating spring. Any idea how to solve the problem?

I assume you've ruled out the simple solutions, deck level, arm balanced correctly and the correct vtf set!

Yes, I did. In addtion to my previous description of the problem: starting a 30cm record the arm finds the correct cue-position, lowers and starts playing. Starting a 17cm record the arm finds the correct cue-position,but during lowering it drifts away.

Thanks, you put me on the right way. I just increased the stylus pressure - now everything is working well. Previously I balanced the arm and adjusted the pressure to 1,5p. But that was obviously to low for the MMC 20S in use.

Check the calibration of the tracking force setting.
