I just got a pair of BeoLab 18s a month ago and I've encountered one issue after another.

This evening I tried to re-pair the BeoLab 18 with my BeoSound Moment.  One speaker would not enter pairing mode, even after i held the reset button for 10 sec.  I unplugged it for 60 sec, plugged it back in and it flashes rapid orange.  I tried resetting it and it turns red, but then does not enter pairing mode.  Unplugging and replugging leads to a rapidly flashing orange light.

Help?

Hi johnbrks,

I had the same issue 2 months ago. Since the purchase, I always had the BeoLab18 connected over NL-cable to my BV and they worked flawless. Later the BV needed a repair and B&O-Service picked up the TV. Therefore I decided to use the amoment together with the wireless option from the BeoLab18 - unfortunately with the same result - one speaker could not connect to the Moment.

After talking with my dealer I tried following steps.

- switch booth speakers to wireless

- remove any NL-Cable

- reset both speakers by pressing the reset button for 10 sec

- enter the settings Menu/Sound/Speaker-setup on the Moment and be sure "use Tv-speakers" are Off an enter setup wireless speaker

Afterwards booth speakers should flash in a  same sequence and the speakers should be paired and the LED ring should stop flashing and change to a solid green. If only one speaker is paired, while the other is still flashing - the setup will ask you about the role of the speaker (left,right...). something went wrong.  If the steps above won't help after trying several times, you should call B&O. The speakers should be still under warranty.

I had to do the same. The B&O Service will connect their laptop and will try to update the firmware. If this fails, they will recommend a repair of the mainboard. After exchanging the Mainboard, you should start with the steps I wrote down above - and anything should be fine again.

Before calling B&O you shold try to move the Speakers for pairing in front of the Moment - not behind - the BS Moment has something like a blind spot when it comes to wireless.

Cheers Beroli

thanks.  i tried those steps.  one speaker is fine and the other will only flash orange.  i can't see it from the moment because one speaker will not enter pairing mode (green flashing).  the moment will pair with the other speaker after i reset it as it goes into pairing mode.

i'm sort of bummed as these are only 2 months old and all devices are close to one another.

Time to call your dealer. Even if the BeoLab are new, there is the possibility that the mainboard of the speaker is faulty. I had the same experience and B&O replaced the logic board with the WLAN module inside the BeoLab 18. The can do it Onsite - but they prefered to take it in. After the repair, everything is fine now - no scratches.

It seems, that some of us got defect speakers from the very first start. Some of us will never know about this issue, when using a cable connection.

Cheers Beroli

This is A WPL software issue. Just need to rebuild the WPL software and everything will be fine. Just ask your dealer if they can do onsite repair for your speaker.
