Yesterday I tested BeoSound 4 with no DAB version.

I was surprised of poor quality in general.

The unit is very very light.
Most of the cheap plastic.
The radio receiver is mediocre.
Display is less legible.
If you compare it with BS9000 it's unfortunate product that is looking as a poorie beside.

That I'd bought a BS 3X00 instead of my BS4 even though at the time it ticked all my technical boxes.

One -ive you may not have noticed is how the sliding scrapes against a mounted CD ... at least mine does.

I agree on certain things - e.g. mediocre sound quality vs. the 3200 or 9000.  'Have no complaints about the display - it was superior to those on the sliding glass door models (e.g. Ouverture).  Keep in mind that it was their entry level audio system at the time - it cost much less than the BS 3200 or 9000.  And the SD card read/write capability was a plus.  I still have one in my bedroom.

Are you sure it's not the CD clamper that's pushing the CD in as the door slides down?  Take a close look - on mine it looks like the door hitting the CD but it's the clamper.

It's very old now, that's my opinion! I had mine in about 2008, I think? That's certainly over 7 years ago. Hardly a recent device. In modern A/V terms, it's an antique.

I liked the BS4. The only part I wasn't keen on was the silver base which visually tarnished and was almost impossible to keep polished! No idea why they chose that material.
