Hi, I just purchased the Beoplay A2, and enjoy it much. I haven't listened to the Beolit 15, but can buy it for the same price as the A2. If sound quality was valued over portability, what should I buy the A2 or Beo 15? Thanks

Both sound really good but the beolit15 is more powerful. It can fill a larger room with sound than the A2. Some say too bass heavy but I like it and you can alter this on your source device anyway. I love my A2 but that's because it's a great combination of sound and can fit in a case/hold-all.

If portability really isn't an issue and you can get one for the same price then it has to be the Beolit15. The black one looks amazing.

The Beolit 15 is too boomy even when you play with the settings. I prefer my A1 over it (never thought of that).

So I will say keep the A2 unless you can do a proper test of the Beolit 15 at home.

I have a beolit 15, has an A2 but was disappointed by the sound from a distance. But quite good. Not a very stable speaker since it is so slim.

From everyone's comment, it sounds like Beo 15 is more bassy, but better at filling a larger room. I've been using the A2 for an hour total so far, and I noticed the sound with certain music sounds harsh to my ears after 50% volume. Those with an A2 or A1 (Beogreg), do you find that also? I have not updated the firmware and so haven't been able to use the Beoapp to play with settings.

I have a B&O somewhat close, and maybe will check out the Beo 15 in person.

Thanks for the input so far!

Listened to up close the Beolit 15, which I own, can be a tad bass heavy. Oddly enough the louder you play it the more balanced it sounds. Also, it's very placement critical for sonic balance, keep it away from room boundaries and it sounds more balanced, like any speaker it is affected by where it sits.

I use mine a lot outside, on the deck when grilling or using the hot tub, and for such use it excels, the ability to put out more bass and at louder volumes works quite well.

I'm quite satisfied with it. I debated, when demoing them at my dealer, which to buy. I'm glad, for my uses, that I went with the Beolit 15. Your mileage may vary of course!

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

I like my Beolit 15 a lot. It might be a bit bass heavy, but A2 might be a little bass "light". The beolit is very placement sensitive so you will learn how to place it to sound in a way that fits your preference. I put it in a corner when I want more of a party sound, and in a window when I use it for casual listening (it's regular spot is there too).

The battery also holds a charge quite long and the charger is built in, you can even tuck the cable away inside the enclosure. A2 comes with a really ugly charger that you have to keep track of.

You need to upgrade quick to use the app for settings : night and day and no distortion at full blast.

Beolit 15 is very sensitive to where you place it and it's true that A2 lacks bass.

So on one side it's bass eavy and on the over bass light.

The Beolit 15 is quite bass heavy, and has some sizzling treble too. Although I prefer flat frequency responses myself, the Beolit produces a beautifully rich and exciting sound; very pleasing to my ears. I personally prefer when it's positioned in the centre of a room rather than next to walls or windows - and it will fill that room - but it really excels outside and has impressed everyone I've played it to. Having two of them in stereo is simply amazing for a BBQ party! The 360 degree sound of a single unit works well too, I find. It's not a stereo presentation as such, but it definitely creates an ambience that regular mono units can't reproduce.

Edit: I should mention the battery life. I used to take mine into the office every day, not the smallest room - there are seven of us in there - and the Beolit would play at decent levels for three days before needing to be charged (pretty much 24 hours as claimed). I think the claims of poor battery life must be due to pumping the volume levels up a bit, or maybe I was just lucky with both my units.

My wife has used the Beolit 15 for swimming club training sessions in a large sports hall to great effect. Previous comments about positioning the speaker are quite right as it does need space around it, in fact I was listening to Spotify in the back garden tonight and it was pretty impressive.

I appreciate all the input! It's helpful. I will be using it mostly indoor in different rooms of a fairly small house. For my purposes, the A2 seems good. I just updated the firmware also, and yes, after 50% it sounds better!

I went to Bang & Olufsen today and heard the beolit 15. Its definately very nice. After listening to the A2 for a couple of hours today, I enjoy it, and don't tnink I want to go through the hassle of switching.

I agree with what others have said about the bass, but overall, I can see myself enjoying the Beolit 15 also.
