Probably the dealer should answer my question but he didnt :
I'm new to B&O and I have bough a pair of BL20 from Paris ( still waiting for delivery asi live abroad ) My next purchase is the Avant ( waiting for the NG ) and the beosound Moment. From what I understood from the 50 hours I spent reading on this forum is that the setup should be like :
Avant is the control unit , speakers are WiSA and the Moment is feeding / streaming music. All is OK for now but i have more than 3 TB of multimedia files ( Flac / MP4 etc.. ) I want the Avant to connect to the storage over wifi ( DLNA probably ) for Audio / Video / PIcs and the Moment to do the same for audio tracks. I don't want to setup a server. Just Wireless router + storage. is it possible ?
Also will an 802.11ac router work with the Avant /Beosound or we're stuck with 802.11 b/g/n ? I can't believe that I read somewhere that the system doesn't support AC mode...

Razlaw:Sounds like a great system! But I don't have enough knowledge to answer your questions.
Well that's depressing lol... Can you please check this thread http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/21190/179802.aspx#179802 and test your BL20s ? I've been following your posts and noticed that you already got a pair.
Thanks
Razlaw:I am just now starting to move in to the Net Link world. I have a mix of MasterLink and NetLink products and would not want to give you a wrong answer when there are people here with much more knowledge on the topics you asked about than me. What is it that you want me to test with the 20s?

This please, not sure if the Bl20 need a Sub for very low frequencies :
IA64: olvisab: Hi, I listen also a lot to chillout/lounge music because it sounds perfectly well on the beolab 5. Actually I listen to VACANT, and the bass are sometimes very low. with this kind of music you will see if you need a sub or not, you just have to compare with or without. Actually they BL5 should perform better ( woofer size etc.. ) Unfortunately the dealer in Beirut is renovating so no chance for a demo; I'm placing orders when I'm on a business trip. Can you tell me how well your beolab handles lows in this track ? https://soundcloud.com/syntheticepiphany/icarus-feat-coma and https://soundcloud.com/deepheads/lewis-b-pinball-limited-time ?

Hi
Some answers here (and a couple of questions/reflections).
When the Avant NG is out, the multiroom feature probably will be implemented in the sw - I guess that will be needed for connecting the Moment to it.
Connecting the BL20'es to the tv will not be a problem.
You'll need no extra sub - with the 20's you already have 2 of them.
For your music files - without a server/DLNA server you won't be able to use the Avant for playback, or the Moment!
If you definitely don't want a server running, you will need a playback device, that allows for direct access to the file structure on your storage.
That means a wired/HDMI connection - either from a Mac Mini or from a small HTPC (depending on your preferences) and a playback sw of your choice.
Use the tv screen as a monitor (for choosing what to play/see).
With music - just mute the screen afterwards.
You would not need the BS Moment, then!!!
Should you, however choose to go the server way (DLNA/Twonky or alike), do remember that a wired connection is the best way to connect devices for streaming content.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Hello MM,
Thanks for your feedback. I was looking for a solution online and what I found is that there are some DLNA certified routers.
Netgear seem to be one of the manufacture that has a " Smart Wifi " product line, it can stream any media file on a storage attached to the router ( USB3 )
Would that work ? say connecting a NAS or 4TB disk to the router and let it do the job :

Sharing across your network is fun and easy. Anything from accessing stored photos and music to sharing a USB printer and keep everything safe by using the included FREE ReadySHARE Vault software for backing up Windows-based PCs.
DLNA®—Find and play your media on DLNA TVs, game consoles and media players
HOWEVER, the Avant doesn't support AC and I really had hard time finding out that it's limited to 802.11n... hopefully the Avant NG will have 802.11ac wifi mode else it's gonna be a nice joke....
