I don't use anything else.

I've cancelled all flow-tv, and are now only using On Demand services. AppleTV4 supports all my needs in this respect and I couldn't live without it.

My primary use is focused around DR TV and TV2 Play (local danish television apps). I regularly change between services such as Netflix, HBO Nordic and Viaplay, based on what they currently offer in terms of interesting shows or movies. Occasionally I use Plex or Infuse to stream movies etc. from my PC. This works really well.

So I rarely see the B&O interface on my Beoplay V1 anymore. Pretty much only when I changes the speaker configuration and there is a software update.

I primarily use the AppleTV remote, but the Beo4 works just fine the simple tasks.

I would say that the usage of the AppleTV4 greatly depends on the apps available at your location. I'm not sure the AppleTV would suffice If the danish TV channels wasn't available.

I you still are a flow-TV consumer, and have Netflix on your Samsung. The only real benefit of a AppleTV is the Plex streaming from a PC/media server, Airplay from your phone, or perhaps the ability to use more streaming services.

Beovision Eclipse gen2 (GX) w/ floorstand, Beolab 14.2, 4 speaker Shape and ATV4/Chromecast.

I don't have an ATV 4. I don't think I will buy one.

I have an ATV3 connected to the Avant and I never use it. I use my Foxtel box or the BR player.

I have a second ATV3 which is sitting in a cupboard and if I get another B&O to I will have it installed just in case.

I watch Netflix in my bedroom and that is a native app on the Sony TV.

I also have the original Apple TV which I still think is a better product.

Can the atv4 fit in the new horizon ?

I use mine here in France mostly to watch terrestrial TV through a very nice app called Molotov TV (no antenna needed), and to remotely control some plugs and devices in my flat with HomeKit when I'm not at home. Sometimes I use it as well to stream music.

It acts a gateway for remote access.

Only important if you want to turn things on and off when you are not there.

PS I replied TWICE with today's usage if ATV 4g ... hopefully they are in moderation.

Ah. I use an iPad for that.

I have mainly Philips hue lights now so it's handy.

You can centralize through the Apple Home app many different devices (lights, plugs, thermometer, thermostat, ..., but all must be HomeKit compatible ) and interact with them when not at home. Useful to simulate you are at home or to increase the heating.

Hi Leo,

I've been a HUGE fan of ATV since 2012 with my first iPhone. I bought the ATV4 for its apps - particularly WSL World Surf League, Vimeo and RedBull Sports. We are not TV watchers - usually 15minutes a day over late evening dinner with a once a week/fortnight late film showing.

I buy films on Vimeo and iTunes along with ReelHouse. I Airplay HD surfing videos from the iPhone along with my music and Ibiza Sonica.

The great thing about ATV4 is that it handles 60 frames per second video (iPhone home videos for example).

It's performance is flawless. Picture & sound are superb. The remote is excellent too with the typical Apple excellence of trackpad.

You got a great deal. Because the £ is so poor, all Apple prices have risen here in the UK so it is rather overpriced but it's a quality piece of kit.

We very rarely use the DVD player etc now. We don't watch mainstream english channels on other boxes etc.

All in all the ATV4 along with iPhone combination have been a really superb, worry free experience. Flawless.

I have Netflix on both the tv and PS4. There is also many available apps on these platform. Then I have Kodi on my connected Mac, you know, for the stuff I have acquired in the Shadowlands.

Been trying to convince myself that I need the ATV4, but it looks like it will disappear.

Leo - try it and if you don't like it - return it. But i'm sure that you'll love the interface and it's real ease of use.

I only have three gadgets in my life and the ATV4 is one of them along with my rose gold MacBook and a iPhone. To me, they are perfect.

Plus here in the UK, we don't need a TV licence as everything we watch in from the internet (we don't watch anything from the BBC etc).

If you had a B&O TV then you would see more purpose. Since it can be controlled by PUC, it feels like a part of the TV. And the experience is flawless as always with Apples interfaces. I also watch a lot of Swedish TV through apps. I even play games with a bluetooth remote from steelseries in denmark.

Also it draws almost no power, so it is very much more efficient than a playstation or Mac.

I did like that I could turn my tv on and of with the Apple remote.

And talking about the Apple remote:

I would like to see a iPhone lite with that form factor! Just for calling and text messages.

Or use PLEX server on the Mac and PLEX client on the Apple TV.

We don't play games on the ATV but the grandkids do:

never tried, but should be the same as on other systems.

you have two choices: if you need addons, you'll need to go with testflite to get kodi on the ATV. the easier way is to use MrMC, which is basically kodi stripped away the addons.

I tried both, MrMC is the much easier solution.

I used to tinker with all kind of other devices, but ATV4 is by far the best. Kodi, AirPlay, games, PUC, Apple Music app, tv apps, etc.

Using Plex and Kodi on the Horizon and BV14 now, I don't really see a need for ATV in my config anymore.

I can confirm that the ATV4 does fit inside the rear left of the Horizon cabinet, just...You would be then best of using a short 0.75cm HDMI cable to minimise the amount of unwanted cabling inside the TV Big Smile

With Apple discontinuing the ATV3 yesterday, there is a LOT of rumours regarding a ATV5 with 4K.

ATV is simply fantastic in every sense. Love the trackpad, love the UI, love the lil quality designed casing, heck, even the mains lead is coiled so that is does not kink. Attention to detail!

One top quality product.

I never used the Apple remote (but the Beo4/PUC) and I only saw the 'box', when I replaced the version 3 with the 4.

The ATV itself (including the main lead) is hidden away - I don't care much for those (as long as the device is small).

The UI is costumable, so it does all (well - almost all), that I had expected.

And AirPlay is still my primary choice for getting content from the iPad to the tv.

A very usefull device.

You're highly amusing Jeff but I'm glad that I don't know you.

If a product is excellent, then it should be praised. It works well and the ATV4 has NEVER caused me problems. Now look as a comparison to the thread for the Moment! Two years on, those poor souls are still stressing about it and my gosh, that's only a simple music player - thank goodness that it doesn't do video!!!

Paul, many people have various issues (and numerous) with their Apple TVs.  Yes its a good product but it only ever existed as a device for you to buy apple content.  Its a media consuming device.

Lucky i haven't had issues but i know plenty that have :-)

Now Aussie Michael, you know that's just not true! The Apple TV is the single most perfect product ever made! Why, when Prometheus came down from Mount Olympus he held fire in one hand and an Apple TV in the other, and believe you me it wasn't fire the Gods were upset with him for bring to man. Same with Moses, when he came down from the mountain, he wasn't holding just a pair of old stone tablets, he was holding a pair of iPads, That story got suppressed by the evil cabal of gas guzzling, planet killing, big SUV driving global bankers. And Moses got upset because the masses were worshiping a golden idol of Bill Gates, instead of the Lord Our God, Steve Jobs. Derp.

ATV3 It is the only thing I have connected to my BV8 and it fits inside where the DTV module was - I don't pay a licence as I don't watch mainstream TV or stream anything from the channels iPad or iPhone, between myself and partner we have another 3 ATV's in 3 different houses and they all work with B&O TV's as if they were a part of it. Brilliant product and with netflix, NOW TV and Youtube there is always enough to watch when you fancy a film. Apple's film list and TV shows are excellent and to be honest would rather pay Apple for the convenience of not having to drag DVDs from house to house and pay 3 licence fees. Of course what suits one person doesn't suit everyone, but for me completely happy with it.

Yeah I just bought one with 30% off as well, already have one connected to BV4, the new one is now on BV11-46.

Use them both daily for Airplay of music and TV on demand that doesn't have an app on ATV

Use Plex or Emby (Depending on how I feel) for movies and archived TV, as the inbuilt H.MEDIA option was shocking.

I also binned SkyTV and watch maybe 1 hour a week, if that, of local terrestrial tv on the BV11-46 via Fibre and Vodafone STB

I have an AT4, but in reality wish I'd passed on it. It does some things pretty well, the remote is slick, but it doesn't integrate/control things if you have anything more complicated than a TV set and an ATV in my experience. In point of fact, since it doesn't have an Amazon Video app, as for things I need it does less than my smart TV does by itself. If I had it to do over I'd just have went with my TV and not bought it. I had thought at the time I needed to get access to some shows I wanted to watch after dumping cable, but in reality even the things I've bought I could have gotten via Amazon Video or with the apps on the TV without having to use iTunes or an AT, and I wish I had.

So an OK product that doesn't add any functionality I need or want. As for it working seamlessly with Beovisions, chalk that up more to B&Os efforts than anything Apple did.
