Hello there,
I have a Beogram 4000. I have no problems with the LPs and EPs (12" - 33t.) but with singles (7" - 45t):
a) When I put a 7" inches record and push the button "ON", it does not recognise it. It goes with the speed of a 12" inches and the arm gets on the plate like a 12", not on the record.
b) I cannot hear the song of a 7" inches until the end. The arm gets up and go back to his initial place, like if I have interrupted the song.
How can I do? Does anyone can help me, please? Thank you in advance. Best wishes.
Hi,The Beogram 4000 control logic is implemented with some mechanical switches, some photo sensors and some early AND/NAND gates. The 12" and 7" detection is done by mechanical switches for those positions. Along with those position switches though, there is a photo sensor in the fixed arm that also determines if there is a record on the platter. If your BG4000 is trying to set down on the platter at the 12" record location when there is not record there then it sounds like the fixed arm lamp and photo resistor circuit is not doing its job.On your other problem, you must have used the forward control button to move the tonearm to the 7" record and set down the arm there, right? If the Beogram tonearm is thinking it has reached the end of the record before the 7" record end is actually reached there are additional detection switch adjustments. There is also an adjustment for the out groove speed detection at the end of a record. The adjustments of the Beogram 4000 position detection switching can take some time if they are out of adjustment. Those adjustments were not intended to be made by the end user. They are not difficult to adjust but do require someone that is mechanically inclined and has a lot of patience.Unless you enjoy that sort of thing I would find someone knowledgeable in Beogram 4000 turntables to set everything correct.-sonavor
