At first this post looked like advertizing and I almost deleted it.
Then I decided to move it to the Lifestyle forum section, though I find it difficult to see what a post showing nothing but
another brands product from all angles have to do on a Bang & Olufsen enthusiats forum?
Unless this thread develops into something useful I will delete it.

Please keep the General forum section B&O related.

Dilen, you should know better than that! I very rarely read this forum nowadays BUT I do know that the older guys love talking about turntables. Heck, we've even had dealers post pix of other brand turntables that they have in their showroom!

Please, stop being so old and fusty! That's what made me hate the BANG&OLUFSEN brand and why I totally moved away from it!

I do not find the turntable appealing but as B&O does not produce one I'm sure it can go in a non-B&O section of the site.

I think your PWexit from the site is another issue though Paul.

First you say, that older guys love talking about turntables.
Then you  call me old because I moved this post to the Lifestyle forum section (a section for "everything else that could be of general interest") instead of deleting it.
Eh?

There are loads of fora for turntables of other brands.
I go there if I want to read about other brands turntables.

"I should know better"... ?
Yes, I know that Beoworld would be flooded if we allowed posts about everything in the general forum.

"stop being so old and fusty! That's what made me hate the BANG&OLUFSEN brand and why I totally moved away from it!"
So because I'm old and fusty, you hate B&O?
And you totally moved away from it?
As I see it, you are still here, only you want to discuss non-B&O things.

Fine, you can discuss this turntable here. Not in the General forum.

Hi guys,

I am really sorry For my thread.

Even more sorry because I made you have an argument. It was really not my intention.

I love this forum and I did not want to offend anyone.

The reason I opened this thread was that I found this product, I liked it a lot as it is made of carbon fiber, corian and wood, it has a good design, and so a lot in common with our beloved B&O products and so I thought other people could be interested in getting to know it.

That's it.

Thinking about it now, I would not do it again as I understand that it can sound as pure advertising.

Again, I am sorry and would really love to know how I can repair.

And I though, that it was the younger 'PW-guys', who gets lofty, when they hear or read the words 'vinyl, turntable'?

But probably I am an older, fusty guy too, then.

I'm confused, as somebody who's never owned a turntable. One minute I'm uncool , the next I'm cool and then perhaps I'm not?

i certainly appreciate the sense of occasion and the artwork. But it has to be the linear tracking B&O I admired when I was a child.

Old and fusty? Apparently, little Paulie, being young and shallowly ignorant is fine eh?

Troll.

As for the turntable, I can't figure out where the button is to turn it on...

No reason to be sorry, finding a good TT with a good design is not easy, not that I like the GPinto, it reminds me too much of a checker board, what I do like is the amp and the multi connection capability.

So keep them coming paolomariano, one day we will find one that beats my BG 4002 Laughing

It's interesting to me how the market is coming full circle to the past. At one time, before separate receivers and components, before widespread separate preamps, amps, and such, the audio world was ruled by all in one units and stand alone radios, sometimes big and quite high end for their day.  My first stereo was a turntable with built in amp and speakers, sound familiar? Today we see this, and things like the A9 and other streaming things like the B&W Zeppelin, etc. that are the modern replacements for the old, big radios.

The whole history of such AV setups fascinates me, how they wormed their way into everyone's homes from being only for the rich originally. Everyone needs and wants entertainment. My wife's paternal grandmother passed away at a bit over 100 years old. She remembered going on a date with someone to a theater (and not even a movie theater) to listen to a radio! It was a special thing, they had brought in a radio and set it up in the theater and everyone sat there and listened to it, with the skip they could actually hear stations from New York or California! This was in Kansas. She remembered radios that took three batteries, in fact B&Os first product was a battery eliminator if you recall, an outboard power supply that supplied the three different DC voltages required to run an old radio setup!

She also remembered a barnstormer flying into her parent's fields in an old WWI Jenny trainer offering rides for $1, but almost no one had a dollar back then.

A great lady, she passed about 10 years ago, but was sharp as could be to the end.

Indeed. The dependence on Apple sources could look foolish should their dominance go the way of Nokia!

With the complexity of sources and multiroom possibilities of today (and probable even more of tomorrow/in 10 years time),

I can hardly think that it will work without some kind of tablet.

If Apple really should 'go the way of Nokia', there will be other tablets to have this working.

But maybe in 10 years voice control will have taken over - and we won't even notice if we use 'seperate' or 'integrated' units.

A microphone, internet access and some speakers (and a big screen) will be all, that is needed --- then!

True but the DDS attack last Friday that took Spotify etc down makes you realise just how dependant we are on Internet access.

Producing/buying a cd or a vinyl is just as dependent on the internet access as anything else today.

This is true, even though many people do not think of that when buying a physical item... Unsure

On the subject of new turntables and B&O, here's a link to an interesting design study for a 'Beogram 4006'

http://www.studentshow.com/gallery/29015445/Beogram-4006

I've tried to upload an individual photograph but failed.

Good point. If the Internet went down, I'm sure that the music producers would adapt. After all, they managed to turn out tapes, LPs, and CDs long before the Internet existed, but it would change their distribution model. They might actually prefer it, the music industry has long had a, well, complicated and love/hate relationship with streaming services and online downloads.

I have a pretty large collection of things ripped into iTunes (which, by the way, continues to be a worse experience with every iTunes update), but I do rely on Spotify for things I hear about and want to listen to. Sometimes if not all the album(s) are there I will buy to fill in, but it's a great way to really sample artists you aren't familiar with, and their radio stations that get tailored to your tastes are wonderful. I could do without them but it would make my musical life a poorer experience.

Wind up Gramophone - completely independent of the Internet and Power - although I suspect you have to order spare needles from a specialist supplier on the internet!

I quite like that turntable at the top of this post - I wouldn't want one, but thank goodness they are still being made with imagination and design. Even the Wallpaper Magazine occasionally features them,

Far from everything being about streaming and the whole world moving at a million miles an hour, there is a movement called Slow Living which is gaining popularity with a return to slower, old fashioned ways of doing things. Whilst vinyl will never take over again, it will gain in popularity as people take time to slow down and enjoy the ritual of playing music and start to enjoy the simpler things in life again.

I agree with the OP that this turntable is a fusion of modern and old and embodies Slow Living - which I learnt about from an article on the B&O website.

And Duels i was watching youtubes before on the vertical LP (record) players that Sharp made in the 80s.

Imagine something like Volvos touch display in portrait as opposed to the Moments landscape and separates racked behind? Could be interesting.
