I have no Beoremote One at my disposal, and I would like to start a Beolink product from a BEO4.

I tried Link + source on the BEO4 and the IR-eye led blinks but its not changing to the link source and it keeps on the last chosen Essence source.

Tried every possible combination, as: link-link + source,...

Everything is configured as it should within de Beosetup app, because it works to change to link sources in using the Beomusic app.

I become convinced that only a Beoremote One has the possibility to change link sources from the Essence IR-eye. And the BEO4 is not usable anymore for choosing link sources on the Essence. Is my thought correct or do I miss something here.

You'll need a BeoRemote One as the NL based music systems are based on the BeoRemote One protocol not the Beo4 protocol.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

What? No backwards compatibility with the Beo 4???

The Beoremote App is not showing the Essence MkII or the Moment. Its shows your TV-set(s) and (strangely) also the NL/ML converter.

With the Beomusic App you can start any NL-Link product and source you have assigned in the Beosetup App to your music product. The new B&O X app is still beta and not yet ready for Link products or your DLNA.

But starting one of those assigned Link sources with the BEO4 remote does not work on the IR-eye.

@TWG

Well for what I tested it, Indeed no backwards compatibility with the Beo 4. It now seems we can store or old remotes in a shoebox to the basement and gather some money to reinvest in the latest ones. What a pitiful thing, I loved the Beo4.

I wonder how the new Beoremote One with IR + BT interacts with the Essence MkII.
