Dear all,
recently I bought pair fo A8 headphones (I suppose, these are A8, no microphone). They should be from year 2010.
Cable split looks different from pictures on the web, plese comment it. Fake? Early model?
Thanks.
I think that is correct for the later model (B&O cost cutting in action). I think the earlier model had the y-shaped splitter, and the new then had a simple square (the 2010 timing seems about right, too). I cannot find mine (loaned them to my wife and they disappeared) so I cannot say for sure. I had both and bought them from a dealer so I know they were legit.
Then again, there were a lot of fakes around at one time. I recall a thread on this site on how to spot the fakes, but I could not find it by searching.
Thanks Stan.
Another info appriciated.
I did some searching in the forum archive (when this was a hot topic), and unfortunately, the pictures are gone (there was even a youtube video). Anyway, it seems like I have it backwards because I found this:

"I asked this same question a few days back. Bizarrely, the answer seems to be that the 'divide' on the genuine A8s has been changed from the original small square block to the same 'Y' shape divider you see on the fakes."
And also this one which describes some of the differences: http://archivedarchivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/7437/56626.aspx#56626
Stan
I probably had every iteration of the A8 (kept losing them).
Those are authentic.
In fact, the earliest version I had, simply had some sort of rubberised band around the area where the cables split off, which pretty much just covered the cable to prevent it from splitting further. It honestly looked like it was just some shrink-tubing.
The pair you have in your picture is a later version, in which there is a sort-of molded square split guard.
The last pair (the ones I still have), have a molded Y-shape splitter. I believe the Y-shaped splitter was the last version of the [true] A8 that B&O manufactured.
For counterfeit identification, it's easier to look at the dome ends of the ear-hook. The fakes have silver or flat ends. The screw (or is that a bolt? haha) sometimes tends to not be a hex-head on the fakes.
Thanks a lot for your commends.
I bought them as second hand for little money. They look very nice and play well. Looking forward for next usage. I will try also bass increasing mod with Scoth tape. Thank you again.
