All

I bought an Essence last week. While I do like it in general, there is some strange behaviour which I can't get fixed. I can't switch back from "Music" (from my ipad or from a DLNA Twonky Server) to TuneIn Radio. When I select Radio the app shows that I am switching to TuneIn. The Radio logo pops up, however streaming does not start. This behaviour is the same via the app, the IR eye Join button, or the Beo4 remote.

Does anybody know how to resolve this?

I already posted the below message to BeoCare, but they had no immediate answer. A ticket has been created for the technicians.

"This week-end I have bought an Essence Mk II for the kitchen. In my living room I have a V1, so I can enjoy the multi-room experience, which is great!
In the kitchen I have an IR eye to control the Essence.

I have one problem when executing the following sequence.
- Switch from TuneIn to Music works fine. Music from my Twonky DLNA server on the iMac starts to play.
- Switching from Music to Radio (TuneIn) does not work. When I press the Radio button on the Beo4 remote, the Music stream stops. I can see on the BeoMusic app that the TuneIn Radio Logo appears. However, the TuneIn Radio stream does not start. I also don't hear the "beep" that the Essence normally makes when switching sources.

Executing the same sequence with Spotify works (TuneIn --> Spotify --> TuneIn).

How can I solve this? I assume I am on the latest software version: 1.10.6883.xxxx"

When I select Radio the app
do you mean RADIO? or do you choose TuneIn in the Beomusic app?

Or did you press Radio on the remote? How did you "connect" this command to the TuneIn of the Essence mkII.

Check the log and is it the same fault?

No I don't have the same error message. I only see some messages related to Deezer login failures. This seems logical as I don't have a Deezer account.

I guess this behavior is related to the software update at the initial setup. I saw an error message, but nevertheless it seems I am on the latest software. Is there a way to force the Essence to reload the latest version?

Carolpa

Pushing the Radio button on a Beo4 activates TuneIn on the Essence. Chris already posted a chart showing the BeoRemote One and Beo4 behavior with an Essence.

That's clear, I try to replicate it tomorrow.

Isn't it netradio as opposed to radio?

I did some further testing in an attempt to check what would cause the problem.

So I tried the following:

- connect wired instead of wireless: no change.

- disconnect from the Beolink Passive and the IR eye, and setup the Essence in an integrated way with the V1. The problem remains the same.

So when switching from Music to TuneIn, the app shows the logo of the Radio station but no sound. On the Tv screen there is a message saying "connecting", but nothing happens.

Anyone else who has the same problem?

As I cannot replicate the problem, I feel sorry that Ican't give you further help.

Changing from TuneIn, Deezer, DLNA music or vice versa with the remote works perfectly. The same goes with the Beomusic app. I tried also with changing to multiroom, and again only with the passive. But it keeps giving me no fault in using the Essence.

Sometimes it acts a bit slower, because I change sources or tracks probably to fast, and then I get the impression nothing is reacting. But being patience, after some seconds it changes. The Essence is wired connected, as is all B&O.

How can I solve this?

May be obvious, but did you try to:

  • Reset the Essence by pushing the button at the back and reinstall it from scratch (and wired to your router)
  • Uninstall/Install the apps (Beomusic & Beosetup) completely
  • Use another device (iOS, Android, Mac or PC), eventually with a different OS version.

I did a reset with a paper clip on the back, but in a wireless setup. Didn't change anything. Would wired make a difference?

I really feel I would need to re-install the latest software version. Resetting to factory settings doesn't change the software version. Any idea how I could force the Essence to re-install the latest version?

Thanks all for trying to reproduce the issue, and suggestions ways to resolve it. Unfortunately, the issue is not yet resolved. Next week, I'll try to pop in at my Dealer, and see if we can reproduce the problem and find a solution in his settings.

In the mean-time, I continue with the workaround, which is to go from Music to Spotify to TuneIn instead of directly from Music to TuneIn.

Problem solved!

In the BeoSetup app I changed the buffer time from 'Automatic ' to '2 sec'. Now everything works as expected! I am very happy that I finally could resolve the problem!

Happy me! Big SmileBig Smile

My Essence is also connected to a Passive. Make sure you have the right Powerlink cable to connect the Essence to the Passive.

I am sure that you will enjoy this addition to your setup!

But what an odd issue...

The "automatic" mode is supposed to be "conservative" ?!?
