Hi. This is my first post to the forums, although reading many posts helped me down the B&O path.

After lusting after a B&O music setup for 25 years or so, I finally was able to realise the dream and bought a Beolab 18 and 19 setup a couple of weeks ago. I'm delighted. Worth the wait.

My question is - is it ok for the speakers to be always on? They are connected via WISA to the Transmitter 1 which in turn is connected by power link to the B&O Connection Hub which marries my Panasonic TV and my Sonos Connect streamer and allows me to switch between the two sources. In this configuration, despite the connection hub going to sleep after a period with no sound coming in, the speakers appear to be always on. If I put my ear to them (well the 18s), I can hear a faint hiss indicating they are powered on.

I thought they they switched themselves off after a period of no sonic input and then would wake from sleep on demand, causing the green led ring to light up for a few seconds. Have I got this wrong? Is what I am experiencing standard expected behaviour and if not, will it damage the speakers?

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

Could you please add one more detail to the description: How, exactly, are your two sources connected to the Transmitter 1? Line or Toslink?

If one of them is Toslink, do the speakers turn off (eventually) if you disconnect it?

Cheers

Hi Scott,

try to put the Transmitter 1 in " B&O Input, set to "No'' ''

I have same installation, BL18/19, Beosound Moment (connected to S8 Hub by full wired powerlink, Transmitter 1, Panasonic TV connect to S8 Hub by Toslink cable. (T1 & S8 connected with full wired powerlink).

When I switch the Moment on, the Transmitter 1 switch on and directly off.

After some research on the forum here, i come to the conclussion the S8 cannot passtrough the powerlink trigger signal for in and output, so i set the Transmitter 1 to ''B&O Input NO'' everything works fine. After +/-20 minutes by no signal everthing shuts down.

Maybe it helps you....

But it was better if B&O had make a good passtrough in the S8 Connection hub, when there is a trigger signal on the Powerlink in, everything connected to the Powerlink Out, switch directly on/off

Hi Geoff

Panasonic TV is by TOSLINK and Sonos Connect is analogue line in 3.5mm jack.

I'll check that tomorrow and revert, thanks for the response!

Hi guys

OK - so after much patience and trying various combinations, I have discovered that the Sonos Connect is the culprit in my set-up. It seems to be continuously on (even when the music is paused). Now, if I have it connected to the S8 hub in any way, whether digital or analogue, the Transmitter will not go into standby.

The only combination I could get to work was:

TV to S8 Connection Hub via TOSLINK. Hub to T1 via Powerlink.

Sonos Connect to Transmitter 1 via RCA Phono to RCA Phono.

In this configuration, the Transmitter 1 will go into standby regardless of last source used after about ten or fifteen minutes (haven't had the patience to sit and watch for the lights yet to tell how long but it doesn't matter). After this happens, when I play a source again the transmitter shows a green light then the speakers do the same and sound comes on (takes a few seconds).

Sonos Connect has to be in variable output mode but I prefer this anyway as it saves changing volume with TV remote. I did notice that the Transmitter 1, which happily worked with the Connect box sitting on top of it until yesterday, will now instantly cut out the second the Connect box is placed within a centimetre or so of the top of the Transmitter 1 unit. I have had to relocate the Connect box away from the T1. I had read that it can be sensitive but this is hair trigger stuff.

So, everything is working, thanks for your help guys (the B&O Input was set to NO when I installed it so that had no effect). I just have a nervous feeling that the T1 is a bit sensitive but hey, it has a three year warranty, so if it stops working as it should I will raise it with the store.

Thanks again, much appreciated.
