My Beosound 1
When I listen a CD or radio just work for couple of second then goes back to standby I have to push standby button again to pay a CD or push radio to listen to radio stations but again just works for couple of seconds, pls any help will be appreciated. NOTE: I don't have the remote control.

Reviving this thread since our BeoSound 1 is experiencing the same kind of behavior.
The BeoSound is in standby mode normally. The antenna, clock etc standby functions appear normal. Even the CD and radio randomly function for a few hours. However the unit usually shuts down (back to standby) after a short period of time. Any kind of help would be appreciated.

If it shuts down after ~15minutes, I would guess that it could be a problem of the PIN security feature!? Did you try to disconnect it completely from the mains for about an hour. After reconnecting: Does it want to have a PIN code? Did you enable it?Maybe other members have solutions or experience with this, too!? Otherwise there will be a technical problem and you should ask your dealer if it can be repared.
On my Beosound 1 the CD drive died... it's sad as the Beosound 1 is still beautiful.

It is not a PIN code issue since that feature has been disabled and there is no indication of a security lock-up via the LED display. Thank you for bringing it up though!
I would suspect it has something to do with the power supply since the problem typically now occurs at a phase where the unit switches on and the power consumption grows. If someone has any experience whether or not the BeoSound 1 suffers from drying/dying capacitors, as is the case with many older B&O products, more detailed information would be appreciated. Or if someone could point out the correct output voltage of the power supply, that would be also highly appreciated (it is not stated in the on-site service guide).
Regarding the last suggestion we haven't had any B&O dealership in our vicinity for ages so any support from B&O is out of the question - unfortunately.
Reviving this thread as my newly bought BeoSound 1 also has this kind of problem. It occurs after the unit has been switched off from the mains. The CD plays for 1-2 minutes then there is a loud electric click and it goes to stand by. When CD is pressed once again it will start playing and continue through the entire album with no problems. Switched it off the mains, pushed CD and after 1-2 minutes it goes to stand by the exact same way. Any explaination/solution for this?

Since there are no relays in the beosound 1 the 'click' could be caused by a bad soldering or poor power supply connection.
Is this fault reproduceable?
If it is in standby after going off, is there a ticking noise caused be a faulty switching power supply?
There is often a problem with the capacitors in the power supply.
Can you open it and clean the power supply connections? (to mainboard)
Any faulty capacitors (leakage)?

a bit offtopic but may be useful:
The malfunction of the CD-mechnism is often seen with the beosound 1 cd units.
I have had at least three types of Philips VAU units in the Beosound 1.
The VAU 1255/01, VAI 1255/21 and VAU 1255/21LF (LF means leadfree)
They all use the same laser pickup with a metalshield and a TMZ SMD DAC chip on the surface.
The VAU's are labled on the pcb with CDPRO2 or CDPRO2M (LF)
There are no more original new parts from Philips. Hitachi does not produce laserdiodes of this type anymore.
There are many listings on ebay for that laser pickup, but none of them was working yet. I tried more than 20 pieces of different channels.
But some people reported success. So there is a little chance to get a working one. In my opinoin the china lasers are all rubbish.
Justtone in germany has complete VAU for exchange and limited laser pickups. They are working fine, may be he has original spareparts.
Another solution is to change the complete VAU to a 1250/01/ or 02, this is an older CDPRO unit.
I found some on ebay with worn out laser pickups. They came from old Beosound 4000/2500 and others.
The advantage is that this units uses a CD 12.4 pickup, which can be found easily in good quality.
The CDPRO series is compatible to the CDPRO2 (dimensions and electric connections), however the modern CDPRO2 does read more cd formats.
