Hello,

I have recently acquired a BeoVision Avant 32 RF. It is almost new cosmetically, however it has some slight skewing of image. This led me to go through the standard settings, but to no avail. I then discovered "Service Mode" and have been looking through the settings...

Ideally, what I'd like is for one of you geniuses on here to explain/guide me through the settings in service mode and perhaps suggest some that I can implement in order to get the most from the TV, and built in VCR.

If I could, I would have it serviced/tweaked, but my local B&O store suggested that it wouldn't be possible @ this point being such an old TV.

It's a beautiful TV, and whilst it is old, I'd like to use it for DVD, SNES and VCR from time to time. I may also attach a Humax 9300t.

Thank you for your time, and help.

The standard advice for the service mode is to change anything at your peril! However these are now pretty antique TVs (still use mine!) so I would suggest making an accurate note of all the settings before you touch anything - I can look at the settings on mine to compare if you like though they all seem to differ slightly so not very helpful. One of the issues is deguassing and this is supposed to happen everytime the set goes into stand by. The picture can be altered also by magnets close by so if you have some speakers next to it, that will give issues. I have the DVD model (DVD not working!) so not much use with the VCR. I do have a service manual for the Avant - far too big to scan - it mentions the Earth field compensation control - it should be on but turning it off will see if the fault is in the compensation circuit or the deflection circuits.

I have to finish with the standard warning - voltages inside CRT televisions run at lethal levels - if you don't know what you are doing, don't go in there! So if messing round with setting doesn't help, you need a repair man!

I can send you a copy of the geometry adjustment page if needed.

Both kind and helpful. Thank you for the reply, Peter.  Degaussing has me intrigued. A copy of the adjustment page would be really handy. I won't go into the unit @ all, I think degaussing along with some tweaking of settings should do the trick. If convenient for me to have your settings (although I understand they'd differ from set to set) it might be helpful too. It seems that the left side of the image is quite straight (vertically), whereas the right side pulls inwards @ the bottom and slightly @ the top.

I think these are the pages you need - let me know how you get on.

Thank you, Peter. I'm going to spend tomorrow going through everything as the Humax 9300t, Sony DVP-905v and SNES have now arrived. One question I do have involves RGB. Would you happen to know if the TV will auto-detect? and if there are any optimum settings for something as old as a Super Nintendo? Lastly, if you do get a moment to jot down your settings, I'd appreciate it, including your display settings/calibration if you don't mind.

The AV socket is RGB - have you got the reference manual - they are on site but you need to be a silver member - I'll dig out my settings tomorrow if I can.

Hello, Yes, I do. I just couldn't see RGB listed.
