Hello

I just bought a Beovision 8-32 and to my big surprise there is a fan in the tv! What?! They have set a fan in a tv that makes noise! I don't get it at all.

Dear forum-members - is this real? Can I get rid of this stupid fan or is it possible to change it to another less noisy. Or can I somehow disable it? Also I can hear the noise from the fan in the speakers (only a bit, but it bothers me a lot).

I really love the design and the very good sound. But I have bought it to my bedroom and therefore I will use it at night with low volume and then I can hear the fan and the noise in the speakers.

Does all beovision 8 have fans??

Most of the flat panel TVs not just B&Os have fans to keep them cool. But they should not make any audible noise unless very hot ambient (40+ Deg) temperature. I'm actually watching/listening on a BV8 40 now and there's no fan noise at all even with my ear next to the BV.

Thank you for your response. Is there diffent versions of the fans? Maybe an early version in my beovision? It is the white one, don't know if it say something about the version.

And I can hear the noise in the speakers when it turn the volume up, with no picture on. Then at volume 60 I can begin to hear it.

Have you updated it software? You can download to the latest version? http://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/product-support/picture/beovision-8-40

There's no noise at all when the sound on mine is turned up well above 60

Interesting.

Can I update the software by myself?

It is the 8-32 I have.

You cant update the sw of an BeoVision 8 with internet/usb. A dealer has to do it with the Servicetool

This will probably (as far as I know) have nothing to do with software versions/update.

Fans are mechanical - your tv is old --- even if you just bought it.

Just like with the fans in computers, these get noisy over time.

Have you looked for dust there - and used a vacuum cleaner (softly).

Worst case would be to exchange them, if they are available.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

You have a got point. I have not tried to use a vacuum cleaner because it had never helped me at computers. But maybe I should get it exchanged. Maybe I should ask my local dealer what it will cost.

My 8-32 has the fan come on sometimes, but it is very quiet - I used a hoover on the back panel to gently get the dust out and that got rid of loads of dust. I think the fan pnly comes on when it gets hot - which used to be when it was against the patio doors with the sun coming in.
