I thought April fools day was just on the 1st!
My thoughts exactly!

Chris Townsend:Dust of those LPs Beoworlders...........
Chris, that's quite a HUGE announcement to make without some substantiation.
A month is just TOO long to wait!!
Chris Townsend:It's only a turntable, not the Space shuttle.
An Airbus maybe, then ;-)
A rocket or just a firecracker?

There is a tv - and there is a BV
bet it is a turntable for a TV or speaker rather than vinyl - but if it is a vinyl turntable then that would be awesome.
Chris Townsend:That's what the dealers say too. Even a Spotify streaming addict like me would get one Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Avant RF 28, Beolab 9, Beolit 15, Beoplay A1/A2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H3 ANC/H8/H6/H2, Form 2, Beoplay A3, Beovision 5-42 connected to a DVD1
BeoNut since '75
My ideal turntable concept would be one that is internet-connected and offers a suggestion of the album after sampling the music, provides 2-way feedback on an app with track listing, and the ability to move the stylus to a particular track. The BeoSound 5 CD ripping device is an inspiration here. The BeoSound 5 CD ripping device is the ultimate CD player in that it automatically pulls the cover artwork and track listings.
The next generation vinyl players should have no rotating parts and read the record optically.

Time to do something with that Jensen's scratch again ...

This is interesting that Bang & Olufsen may introduce a turntable. I have a Rega turntable that to me has a warm and enjoyable sound. I also listen to digital music through Apple Music and Amazon. I usually buy new LPs from Amazon who include an MP3 download of the LP purchased. I only listen to LPs when I relax with a glass of wine in the evening. Why would anyone want a digital turntable?
B&O is actually late to the turntable revival. Most audio companies are selling relabeled turntables that are manufactured by Project or Rega and other established companies. Other than maybe the design. why buy a B&O turntable? How much would anyone be willing to pay? There are some really expensive turntables often above £10000. My Rega turntable with a moving coil cartridge and a tonearm upgrade was about £2000. It has been trouble free and if service is needed, there are many dealers.
Maybe the new turntable will be an inexpensive Beoplay turntable.
Maybe it will be integrated in one of the tiles of the new BS Shapes ;-o
Chris Townsend:Whenever I ask dealers if they get asked for them, invariably the answer is "yes, all the time"
When I purchased my Rega turntable, it was demoed at a B&O dealer.
ngnear:This is what comes to my mind every time I hear "vinyl" or "turntable" http://www.newyorker.com/cartoons/a19180 Tim
Agree - and that feeling would not go away just because there is a B&O label on it.
That said, I have a BG4500 ---- and I hardly ever use it.
I had it from 'the start' - maybe it is time to consider selling it.
I need to do some adjustment and maintenance on my BG3000, but every now and then I dig out albums and play some for a day or two, which reminds me of why I stopped relying on LPs for my music. Then back to streaming I go.
If you were going to introduce a turntable today for the "masses" it should have an ADC and BlueTooth and Wifi streaming in addition to a built in RIAA preamp.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
First I've heard about a new turntable... most of us dealers sell third party decks. We stock Pro-Ject turntables. I'm attending the B&O conference in Denmark at the beginning of May and will find out, but think it highly unlikely... still, been wrong before!

Some have tried this earlier, without much success...

Was the rumor just about today's B&O Facebook post mentioning the ability to integrate the old datalink turntables with NL? Not actually a new B&O turntable being announced?
There are some interesting errors in that FaceAche post. Firstly, the Beosystem 6500 is a system, not a record player and you wouldn't plug speakers into the record player, you'd plug them into the amplifier.
Most amazingly, though, this new thing allows you to "change tracks on your record player". I'd be really keen to know how they've added this functionality to a Beogram that didn't have this option in the first place!
Actually this is not that new.
It has been possible using the NL/ML Converter for quite a while.
Note, you will need a BeoGram turntable, that is connected via datalink to an ML-AudioMaster in the setup for this to work.
Everybody is talking vinyl - maybe that is the reason for the postings on Facebook and elsewhere.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
