I have a BS9000 (MK II I think) on the bench right now but I don't have the speakers. I want to get into test mode but of course it won't respond to the remote as there are no speakers connected. Getting the speakers here would be a major PITA, especially right now (Covid 19 lockdown).
I see that Sounds Heavenly sells a "speaker sense adapter", essentially an 8-pin DIN plug. It's not cheap and it is unlikely I would ever use it again.
Does anyone know if there is anything clever going on in that plug or is it simply shorting pin x to pin y?
