Hello all
Please could anyone help me, my ms 6000 has developed an intermittent fault where the brightness keeps going wild and when it goes bright it shows the spaced diagonal horizontal lines a bit lighter than the black background, it is as though someone is playing with the brightness potentiometer on the tube.
I've tried to adjust the potentiometer myself and it doesn't stop it. It is weird as it stopped happening for about a month, and now has started happening again
Thanks to all
It's almost certainly the focus/vg2 control assembly on the crt base pcb,it was quite a common failing with this otherwise great telly, you just have to replace it..Also,the crt connecting pins can cause this problem,as they become tarnished with age/heat.
Easiest solution would be to try and find a salvaged crt base pcb(pcb 3),as I doubt that you will find the part anywhere unless someone has a nos part?(original part No 5390032)
The same pcb and control was used in MX4000/6000 and LX 5000/6000 models
I'll look among my beotreasure,as I may have something suitable.
Regards
Nick
Thanks a lot for your help and advice
Do you think it could be repaired by soldering or replacing anything on the board? What is the exact place of the CRT connecting pins you mention,? For me to check them, maybe they can be soldered
It's worth trying the crt pins first,as you seem to be familiar with the inside of the set,but do take care!!!
There are residual high voltages in CRT TV's even when the set is unpowered!!!
I can help you further once I'm confident of your skill level?
No offence intended, but it's a safety issue sir.
Regards,
Don't worry Nick, me and my friend do it together and we fully discharge the set before tampering with it, we have changed some caps before on it due to some compression on the left and right edges.
Where exactly are the CRT pins? Please
You have mail sir!
