I am hoping some of you technical people will be able to give me some help and advise, as I know there will be a kind person out there, who will enjoy the challenge of problem solving, and sharing their knowledge. My nearest B&O dealer wants over £200 just to travel to my door, then over £100 per hour work time, then travel back! Ouch!
I have a beovision 7-40 mk6 and a beosound 5 in the same room, two pairs of beolab 8000 are connected to the 7-40. A sky hd box is also connected to the tv via hdmi cable and scart cable to send the analogue signal to other link tv's.
In three separate rooms I have a beovision 6, an old Avant with built in VCR, and a beolab 3500.
Because of the older equipment I am using an older beo4 without nav button for the 7-40, as I believe it is not possible to use old and 'new', albeit in different rooms, is this correct?
On initial set up, I ensured that all units were isolated from each other, i.e. no master link connected. I made the following setting on each unit:
7-40 option 2 on v.opt
beovision 6, option 6 on v.opt
Avant, option 6 on v.opt. The original book I got when I purchased the Avant states that option 6 is possible.
Beosound 5, am option 0 on unit.
I then powered everything down, made the connections and switched everything on, 7-40 first, then all the others.
I have a number of issues I would like advise on please:
I can get n.radio and n.music to work on all units, apart from through the 7-40, this being in the same room as the beosound 5. Pressing n.radio or n.music has no effect. I presume I have an incorrect setting on the 7-40?
I get picture and sound on the beovision 6 but nothing on the Avant. I have checked the integrity of the coaxial cable from the splitter to the tv and this is definitely ok. I press 'link' then 'tv' on the beo4 in the avant room but nothing happens. Is the Avant too old to 'see' 'link tv'? The radio and music work perfectly. Is that signal via the master link?
I appear to have limited control over the built in bluray player on the 7-40. I cannot skip to chapters or fast forward etc. Is this because I am using a beo4 without nav button?
I would be very grateful for advise on any or all of the above please.
All your Option settings seem correct.
A couple of questions:
- Do you have the manual for the BV7? - it is available on B&O's support site
- On the BV7, 'Power Saving' must be set to OFF for Masterlink to work. Is it?
- On the Avant, is the LINK frequency set to the Default 599 MHz?
- (EDIT) Is the BV7 set up to use a normal Beo4 rather than the NAVI version?
- (EDIT) Have you tried making the option settings with everything connected and powered up?

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply to my post.
In answer to your questions:
I have downloaded a manual from the internet.
Power saving is off.
All link frequencies are the same. BV6 works ok, not Avant.
BV7 set for normal Beo4.
I will try making option settings will all attached and powered up, however I have believe I have followed the procedure recommended by B&O. I have nothing to lose.
Thanks again for your reply.
Anybody else with any ideas please?

Hi Elephant
Thanks for your response.
The BV7 is linked to the sky hd box, no other external connections. I am linked throughout the house with standard TV coaxial cable and genuine master link cable. The video and audio work fine on the BV6, but not the avant.
What is a RF black box?
I think it is more a settings problem than a hardware problem. Pressing 'link' and 'tv' on the beo4 in the avant room has no response. In all other respects the beo4 is working ok. I have even tried it in another room to be sure. Can the avant 'see' link tv I wonder.
I know the avant was working ok until I moved it to another room and got the BV7 to use as the master set. I can access n.radio and n.music on the avant. The normal tv button wants to work, i.e. fuzzy screen, as no external aerial or freeview box is fitted.
I also have the problem of not being able to control the beosound 5 from the Bv7 which is in the same room. I have control of it from all other rooms. :-(
Thanks anyway.
