Beocord 2000 Cassette won't transport the tape

My old cassette deck will not move.  I hear a click then it returns to stop.  It was repaired once by Soundsmith who said that some soldering had gone bad on the board.  Can't remember if the symptoms were similar.  Any ideas?

I should mention that prior to it not working, the tape transport was not very crisp, nor quick.  Performance was definitely degrading.

Replace belts and reel table rubbers.
