My BM6000 works nicely but with one rather irritating quirk. The volume control is incredibly crackly when the volume is changed. This is worse when its first switched on. Any ideas?
Would some contact cleaner do the trick (in small amounts)?
Thanks
Ben
What model of Beomaster 6000 are you referring to? The 2702 or the 225x ?

Hi Sonavor
It is the later 80s model (225x). I found a previous thread on the archived forum which suggested using a small amount of contact cleaner on the volume pot...
Since the crackling occurs when the volume pot is being being turned then definitely clean that pot. When you turn the Beomaster 6000 on it will drive the volume pot to whatever the stored volume level (preset) is so it makes sense you get crackling during that event.
This old picture shows the volume pot and motor.
"Careful with that axe(contact cleaner) Eugine"Just a little contact cleaner,not wd40!
Might be worth checking or just replacing, the coupling caps too ,3C102/202,114/214 as the crackling may be due to residual dc on the control tracks,as it's worse at switch on?
I've got some spare boards for this Beomaster if you need them?

That is good to hear. I am always glad to see other Beosystem owners keeping their gear operating and putting it to good use.
