I currently have a Beogram 2402 with an MMC20EN cartridge, which works fine. Have been offered a MMC 3000 cartridge. I think it could be used as a backup/replacement although I believe it is a lower quality. However, I am fairly new into the B&O world so still have a lot to learn. Can anyone tell me if it is worth getting the MMC3000?

The most basic of the MMCX000 range. Pretty similar to the MMC20S - spherical stylus. Will work but the 20EN is considerably better. Of course you could have it retipped as the internals of the cartridges are all similar. I have a 20S retipped with a Shibata tip and it is one of my best sounding cartrisges - I needed a good black cartridge for the 4001!

Hello Peter,

Can I ask where did you get the mmc20s re-tipped ? ( I'm interested because I'm running a 2402 with the 20S cartridge.)

( with apologies to Soody for side-tracking his post)

regards

Noel.
