No way - that is just a display.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Chris Townsend:If B&O don't see this as an opportunity in speakers like the 12 series, they'll be missing a massive trick.
Now I started to think even of B&O developing a set of "screen-agnostic" TV speaker combos/soundbars that you can complement then with B&O or non-B&O TV screens... ...obviously from design etc perspective being most effectively and seamlessly integrated with B&O panel.
What a lovely possibility. :)
even patched on a wall, a screen is a screen unless their reliability and power consumption let us display pictures all day long. then it will become something different.
this is just geek masturbation that just destroy the television as an object. Hard for the manufacturer to add their brand and differences.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
I have seen many screen unprotected by a piece of glass in front completely destroyed by just the pressure of fingers on the side (by just moving them).
I don't know if the oled tv are less or more sensible to these risks. (dents, scratches...).
I have done it with beolab 5000, beolab 10 and a pair of beolab 5
this was a long job, only possible because my garage was at the back of the wall. maybe some beoworlders have the time and courage for doing it (not putting on the wall just a bv10 or 11 but a complete set), but most of people just hang the tv and/or use an av receiver.
Chris Townsend:That seems like a poor excuse for not adopting this type of technology. How many Beoworlder's have wall mounted screens with the cables hidden inside the walls neatly? Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Avant RF 28, Beolab 9, Beolit 15, Beoplay A1/A2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H3 ANC/H8/H6/H2, Form 2, Beoplay A3, Beovision 5-42 connected to a DVD1
Chris Townsend:I said this was coming on this very forum a few years ago, only to be laughed at. If B&O don't see this as an opportunity in speakers like the 12 series, they'll be missing a massive trick. In a few short years, the idea of having a large boxy rectangle in your room will seem odd. The panels will simply paste or attach magnetically to a wall, with all the processors tucked neatly away. A Beovision 12-65, but 2mm thick. Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Avant RF 28, Beolab 9, Beolit 15, Beoplay A1/A2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H3 ANC/H8/H6/H2, Form 2, Beoplay A3, Beovision 5-42 connected to a DVD1
Unfortunately as the main tv in a room, i shouldn't imagine not much. I'll keep my 5-42 as a piece of AV archaeology.
But if they aren't making much money on Beovisions or even a loss of rumours are true, then they could concentrate on the AV intergration and audio sector.
The 12-3 etc was way ahead of its time I think.
lol if 12.3 are ahead for their time what should we say for the beolab 3000 to 5000. technology inspired by aliens ?

that would be the end of the beovision. the dna of the tv by b&o is the all in one solution. They add previously launched some different/stranged solution (bv4, bv12) in the past but the b&o tv has attracted people because it looked like a stylish all in one solution.
I realised that when I first put my hands on an av9000 and after a bv 4 50.

I agree!
Wouldn't it be a far greater job to have speakers integrated flat in the walls (to match a flat, flat screen) and to hide all the electronic including all needed cabling?
And it would bann you to have it fixed on (!) the wall - goodbye (turnable) stands and individual placement on a shelf etc.

That is exactly the right word for it!
Not everything, that is possible, is also useable.
Might be ideal for a display for conference rooms, exhibitions, shops - but not for an A/V solution (aka a BV).

Sorry what?
Actually LCD technology is better for well lit rooms because the backlights can be made super bright and LCDs even today are brighter than OLED or Plasma ever were. "A/V" is another wishy-washy term by some geeks.
Let's be real here, other than the obviously fabulous casework there's nothing inherently unique about BV, open the set and I am near 100% it will be a off the shelf LG or Samsung LCD panel. Some goes for the older Beolabs, just standard STK chip amps. "IcePower" = class D switching amp like car audio.
Of course I fully appreciate b&o design work and thoughfly packaged appeal. Personally I don't see myself spending many thousands on a small 48" set that has a old LCD panel and dodgy software.
Not trying to be nasty..
vlohjr1:For these wallpaper TVs it will have to go via the bv4/bs4 route
BeoNut since '75

Of course. But even Apple doesn't make their controller chips. They are still off-the-shelf from ARM and others. Let's face it, B&O buy the best components, create a unique design, choosing great materials and wrap it up for sale as their product. But happy to pay for this premium as, on balance, they mostly get it right!
The only issue I have is the price increases where every other electronics manufacturer reduces prices. I was laughing on another forum the other day wehere people were saying £500 was quite a lot of money for a 40" TV....I walk in to my local B&O store and they tell me the BV14-40 is £5000...and is going up 9-13% from 1 Jan and there was already a price increase in November? 😂
@Moxxey
I just received a mail from B&O Play announcing a price reduction (!!!).
The A6 is going down to 799€ (formerly official price was 999).

I think, I heard that before LOL

Yes, one product. Everything else (regular B&O range) is going up though! That's why I bought the BeoSound 1 on Friday. Not sure of the new UK RRP, but I think it's going to be around £1100 from tomorrow? Makes the A6 look like a bargain :)
The A6 is probably the best value speaker in the range right now, based on price<>performance. I own the A9, A6, A1, A2 and BeoSound 1 and I'd say the A9 is amazing, but for the (new) price, the A6 is a very good second. Less than half the price, but definitely not half the performance!

I am not sure how that fits in to my comment to the usability of a wall-paper screen in a home environment.
P.S. A/V is the term that B&O has been using for their combination of picture and sound for decades.
You may call that 'geeky', if you please.
I - as well as most of the Beoworlders - am/are geeks, then.

I wonder if this price increase is just for the UK?
If yes, then I will start guessing, what the reason might be - hmmm!
Millemissen: I wonder if this price increase is just for the UK?
I think it is. But my dealer claimed the prices went up early November, too! Twice, in two months? wow.
The chief designer for LG is Torsten Valeur. I think whatever the new B&O/LG TV is going to be. We all may like it. I do like the OLED wallpaper concept. I hope B&O will have a 65 inch version of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM1k0h6ZqMk (LG video presentation by Torsten Valeur).
LG is a huge company with many departments.
Torsten Valeur has nothing (!) to do with the audio or video division of LG - this is part of his agreement as a designer for the B&O stuff.
P.S. Wouldn't make any difference anyway - what is there to design on a wallpaper display?
The colour of the magnet plate, maybe ;-)

Michael: Not everything is the external design. A huge part of B&O is the integration and how one interact with their electronic devices and how they work for one. This is design too. Regarding external design I believe there will be interesting things to come. It takes a designer to come up with ideas as we see clearly above.

That is exactly my point.
And that is the reason, why it really does not matter whether the screen is 1 mm or 8 mm - or if it is removeable from a magnet base.
Just look at the BV Horizon - they could have made that a lot thinner, but they did not!
Thanks MM,
My post was not exactly correct. I meant to say Torsten Valeur was the designer of the LG's Signature line of products which does include an OLED TV.
Good afternoon,
The new LG TVs were presented at CES.
http://www.theverge.com/ces/2017/1/4/14155650/lg-oled-4k-tv-w-ces-2017-specs-release-date
We have to see if B&O will show at least prototypes of their upcoming OLED TVs. CES ends January 8.
Regards,
Jean

That's not going to happen. Dealers have seen what's coming from B&O and the OLED TV isn't due soon - I was told Summer/Q3 2017, potentially.

Thanks for the link. I thought the wallpaper version with the sound bar was impressive. B&O could do a better version with a new design center speaker to get 5.1 sound. We will see what happens. These CES presentations of new products demonstrate the competition in the TV market place. I think B&O made the right decision to partner with LG Electronics. The really fun thing LG showed was the refrigerator with Amazon built in. I have to have that.
Chris Townsend:If they do a B&O sound bar, and that screen I can attach to my wall then I'm in. Even the LG sound bar looked great to be honest.
Exactly, why they almost stubbornly stick with LCD tech, small sizes and thick frames is totally beyond me.
Hopefully they're cooking up something really worthy of a Beovision of 2017.
