Lightening killed much of my BV8, and insurance can pay "replacement" costs.  I see the BV Horizon as the replacement for the Bv8-40.  However, I also see a lot of grief about this TV on this forum, although it seems like more is directed at the BV14.

Is the Horizon as bad as it seems from the comments on here?  Anyone have a good experience with the TV?

My reasons for considering this route are a) picture/sound quality, b) it fits nicely where the Bv8 used to be (and I can hook it up to the BL4000s that were connected to the BV8) c) multi-room capability.

The BV8 is fixable (~$1100), but that seems like a lot of money to put into a ~5 year old TV.

Then again, there are a lot of nice TVs out there that don't have B&O on them (but then I have integration work to do so I can listen to my TV on my back patio which is important to the wife).

My Horizon 48" is now working very well and I like it a lot. Very good picture, even compared to my V1. So you really will upgrade picture wise from your BV8.

Sound wise just good as you expect from B&O, think BV 8 though might have bit more punchy sound (due to more volume in soundbar). Horizon is on par with V1.

Sound engine wise you will also improve a lot! BV Horizon and BV14 have same engine and is based on Beosystem4, very many settings for sound / speaker groups and room set-up. Really like that myself and for me one of the divers for buying a new BV.

Software is the main issue on the BV Horizon/14. Android based and many many flaws after introducing. The last updates have brought a huge difference, picture is very good, OS is much more stable (almost non crashes anymore) and overall performance is good now.

Only weak point in the picture to me is the blurring in fast moving images. This has been improved already but still not 100%.

Also Multiroom is there and works well, not all the control functions are there yet but depending on your own set-up you might even not notice that.

Netflix is THE missing link on all B&O smart tv's (BV11/12/14/Horizon/Avant/V1). Caused by dispute between both companies, has nothing to do with technical disability of the tv's.

Last but not least, BeoOne remote is also very nice to use, much lighter and after a few weeks the Beo4 feels outdated.

All in all, with the Horizon you really step into today's tv world with all known B&O extra's. But be aware that the tv world of tomorrow is already at the door with OLED. The future of B&O tv's is a much debated topic on this forum and for me the Horizon might be the last actual B&O tv at hand (with BV14 of course).

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

Thanks for the feedback.  Now I'm seriously considering this option and will need to see if my insurance company agrees.

My dealer said the eclipse will be 55 and 65 in and start at $10k. Too big and too expensive for my needs. I agree that OLED is beautiful, but I don't watch enough TV / media to justify the cost.  I need to remodel my room for anything larger than 40-43 in...  so that's 10k + remodel costs + waiting until Oct (+ 2 kids in college) vs a nice upgrade to my bv8 (covered by insurance).

I believe part of the size issue with the OLED TV Panels (someone correct me if I'm wrong), is that LG Display whom B&O are using as their supplier don't make OLED Panel sizes smaller than 55"

If that's the case I'm wondering if a later update to the BV14 will include OLED in which case, sizes will start at 55" or will they split the range with OLED only models and LED models for smaller sizes?

Very good question AngloApulian. It will be interesting to see what's coming. Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

I think everything < 55" will be LED; everything > 55" will be OLED
