Good Morning

(please ignore my ignorance and lack of terminology) I have a Beocenter 2200 and during a recent move the needle enclosed within the housing (MMC 5) has snapped out. Can anyone recommend the best next step to restore? Do I need and entire new stylus or can I order a needle and fit myself?

Best,

Rob

Welcome to Beoworld.

Unfortunately, the stylus assembly is not user-replaceable. However, there are 2 or 3 companies/individuals that can repair the cartridge with a new suspension, cantilever and diamond stylus and if you search this site there are a number of references to them. It's not cheap though - a refurbishment to your MMC5 will be at least 99€.

I've just had an MMC5 refurbished (to roughly MMC4 specification) by this company in Germany. It's an excellent piece of work Here's a link

Unfortunately the cartridge is the most expensive part of this system because it can be used in a lot of other B&O decks. The Beocenter 2200 was an entry level device made in Japan and although very stylish, is regularly cannibalised for the cartridge. Shame as not a bad device. Car boot sales may be your friend.
