Hi all,

I'm finally ready to ditch my LG flatscreen for a BeoVision. I'm considering a 2010'ish BV 7-40, 10-40 or 10-46.

The television cannot be wall mounted, so I'm a bit worried about my 5 month old baby, and the kind of adventures he will have when crawling in a few months.

So my question is: do any of you have any experience with little creatures overwhelming a BeoVision with their curiosity?

Which alternative is more sturdy? A BV7-40 on a floor stand? A BV10 on an easel stand?

Very good question. I have a young family - 3 year old, 7 month old. Would have thought an easel stand would be better with less pivot and lower centre of gravity.

We bought a Panasonic and put it on a table. It's very light so if the worst ever happened it would be ok. The Panasonic has a excellent picture, rubbish sound and the awful garish GUI. The remote is crumbling already. It cost us £1000 reduced from 1999 in January sales from John Lewis. In many ways perfectly adequate. I used to have a BV4-50 and I miss Bang Olufsen terribly. The LED didn't compare to Plasma. I'm hoping to get a BV11-55 one day. Whoever says, there's a television and then there's a Beovision is absolutely right but I'm not sure if I would ever buy an Android powered one with its multitude of software problems.

Hi 1990,

As I've had B&O throughout the house as both of my children grew up (now 10 and 4 years old), I have given this lots of thought over the years.  I ended up abandoning TV floor stands altogether and having a bespoke pine TV cabinet made by a local craftsman - this places my Beovision 8 up out of harm's way and also keeps the various set top boxes, games consoles and blu-ray discs locked safely away.

The TV feet are also clamped to the top face of the cabinet using concealed steel straps - this makes it almost theft-proof, as well as stopping it from toppling over if hit by an errant football or suchlike Sad

So, to answer your question "Which alternative is more sturdy? A BV7-40 on a floor stand? A BV10 on an easel stand?" - my answer would be "neither, when hit at speed by a toddler on a tricycle".........

PS. I hope this post doesn't imply that my children are badly behaved, as they are generally very good.  Some of their friends who come to visit, however, are a different story altogether Angry

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

The BV7 televisions are very heavy, and on the motorized floor stand, are virtually impossible to topple over. You will have a problem with the anti-glare screen surface though, as that is almost impossible to clean fingerprints from and easily damaged. Basically, toddlers and B&O products are not compatible items to have in the same house unless kept in different rooms. :-)

BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.

Agree, I had my BV11 wall mounted for exactly this reason, shame as I'd love the floor stand. One day perhaps...

For little toddlers there are simple rules: Don't leave them alone / unwatched in a room and educate them and support them with more interesting toys than your Beovision. Especially after the crawling phase transforms into the I-love-climbing-and-lifting-me-up-on-everything-I-see-phase.
They love everything that seems to be new to their little world. "No!" is the most important word within the equipment zones (and don't believe them pretending they don't understand).Wink

Always remember: The biggest warning sign is when they are quiet... suspiciously quiet! Big Smile

Otherwise: Enjoy your baby, they grow up too fast and enjoy your Beovision. The Beovision is a piece of art.

Also, beware of the BeoLab 11. Its cut edges are razor sharp! I've cut my hands several times when changing the covers.

Also the edges, corners of BV11. Super pointy.
