Today I received an email from my dealer. The production of BV Avant and BV 14 has stopped. Remaining televisions can be ordered now from the factory.
Can somebody confirm this? If this is true there must be new Beovisions coming quite soon.
Well, maybe they have finally accepted that they cannot make them work properly anyway?

Thats not true, Avant 85" working like a charm, nothing wrong with it!

Well the new BeoVision has already arrived, it's called the Eclipse and there is a very long thread about it already! As far as I am aware the Eclipse will be the current new model going forward with interchangeable panels in the years to come. B&O will only be using LG OLEDs from this point on. If they are going to create new designs then no news of that is known to the forum at this time.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
could you please post the text of that email - I know nothing about the end of production of these tv's.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
(The text is in Finnish. You can use translating program.)
Which Google translates as:
The BeoVision Avant 55/75/85 production ended some time ago - I guess the 85 will be available for quite some time due to stock and number of sales.

Ok! Thanks for clarifying.
This may mean, that we soon will see new BV 's (from the LG cooperatin).
Where does this leave the folks that bought an Avant-NG or BV14? To think, just as the on these sets are beginning to reach the state that it should have been in on DAY 1 they discontinue them. It's a disgrace and they should all be ashamed.
it looks like BO attempt with Android TV was a flop. I bought 2 x BV14 in the past 10 months and they seem to work kinda OK, but discontinuation might mean that future software updates and improvements will not be developed. If BO can't maintain and support BV14/Avant NG Android platform they should make it open source.
It does surprise me that they stop producing the BV14 after one year.
It all boils down to economics of scale. If the TVs do not sell enough/slower than predicted then it does not make sense to keep on producing them. Stop production and cut the costs.
But.. as a BV14 customer I hope that they continue to support and update the BV14 software wise.
Karel.
kuyttendaele: It does surprise me that they stop producing the BV14 after one year.
The irony is for me, it's still a stunning TV and much more balanced than the Eclipse. Shame there's no BV15 with OLED.

You are right. I think that if B&O neglects the custommers that bought a TV based on the Androïd-platform, they lose those custommers (to brands as Loewe for instance). I am not sure if B&O is currently in a position to have such an attitude. So I hope they continue to support the Androïd-platform. Keep in mind that the Androïd BV's improved, but are certainly not perfect yet.
Sorry for perhaps a dumb question (I'm still new)... Does interchangeable panel indicate a customer's individual set would be upgrading to newer standards, or that B&O will iteratively rollout newer revisions of the same model? If the Eclipse's included sound was good enough to ditch my other audio equipment & the video capabilities upgradable.... But I don't see how that would be possible.
Regarding discontinued products, how has this worked in the past?

I'm hoping they'll do something like a BV14 MK2 and Avant NG MK2 with HDR and continue to fix the software issues (what's happening with that September release anyway?) but I would have thought they'd have said something about it if that were in the pipeline.

You don't know that. They haven't said why they're stopping production. It's conceivable that they have stopped production of those sets and starting producing new ones. That's what they did with the Avant NG. They just started showing up in dealer's stores.

The BV14-40/55 and Avant 75 are the End of Life models being phased out. Avant 55 and 85 will live a bit longer.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
And the BV 11-46? It is still listed on the website. The BV10/11/14-design is a classic; but reengineering costs for a BV 11/14 "LG Edition" would probably too high..
The 11-46 has been End of Life for a long time. Once inventory depletes, it too will go away.

I don't think we'll see new models. I think it's really cost prohibitive for B&O to produce the custom frame and other components and doing that around an off-the-shelf LG panel. It would be tough. I don't think that's what B&O intends to do in the future, which is really sad.
andy_js:Well the new sets do cost 10 grand. It think having the panel in a decent frame isn't too much to ask.
Yes, but think about this: they are £10K without the frame. Can you imagine the cost with the frame etc? And now you see why it's unlikely to happen.

Apart from the motorised stand and sound bar I don't see much difference between the Eclipse and a vastly cheaper set from LG.
Just as a Rolls Royce Phantom is a BMW 7 series?
Beo Century ,Beoplay V1, Beocenter 6, Ex-Beolit 12, Beotime , A8. Beolit 15 , Form 2i , Beolab 2000, Beoplay A3.Beosound 1

It is quite easy actually.
The long announced cooperation with LG has now brought us the BeoVision Eclipse - the first new BV of its kind.
This certainly is not a one night stand - more will follow.
Of course they won't continue to build/let build the Android-BV's.
The question now however, is how soon will we have 'replacements' for (some of) the untill now current models.
This will depend on how they estimate the buyer segment - which kind of tv is right now?
As for the design (= keeping the old design package) I am sure there will be changes.
A modern flat (I mean really flat) tv/screen demands another design language.
And the audio part has evolved - just look at/listen to the SoundCenter of the Eclipse.
I guess we can look forward to something, that might surprice us.....once again.

Please do read the new blog post from Geoff Martin, that I linked to in a recent thread.
