Hi there,

I have two BL7000s and have been trying to get either/both fully operational with a complete Beosystem 6500.

1.       Beolink Type 1540 SW-1.6 (as per label)

Setup initially went well and two-way communication was established. It (two way) was slightly intermittent but 90% working. It would lose contact (in a two-way sense) from time to time. This could be re-established by re-adding the 'Radio' and storing.

After a day or two and many button presses on the 7000, I receive the ominous "No Contact" message and despite anything I try, cannot restore two-way communication.

I am almost certain it is the BL7000 at fault due to the following test: -

  • I change the source, volume, CD track on the BeoSystem 6500 using the BL7000
  • I put the BL7000 in a box to cut off any communication
  • I have an MCP 6500 which has hitherto had no batteries inserted. I insert batteries, press 'Status' and the status from the BM6500 is revealed in full detail

From the above three steps, I am inferring that the Audio Master (in this case my BM 6500) is communicating correctly with the MCP 6500 and therefore, that it is reasonable to assume that the BM6500 should also to communicate correctly with the BL7000.
(unless the BL7000 were broken of course)

Do you think that is a reasonable assumption?

That having been said, I find it highly unlikely that after some 25 years of life, the BL7000 in question would suddenly have become faulty within two days of its coming into my possession!
NB -  when I first received it, it was working well (with two-way comms) for a day or two.

In my attempt to restore it to life, I may have pressed a few wrong buttons under Panel> Setup> System> Options. However, I did press 'Reset'. In any case, as far as I can tell, the commands under the 'Options' section mainly affect the sources  - correct? (other than adding/removing buttons on the BL7000 that is)

2.       Beolink RDS Type 1540 S/W 2.1 (as per label)

Works as expected uni-directionally but "No Contact" appears whenever two-way is requested by the BL7000. All usual tips regarding removing and re-adding sources have been tried.

Do a forum search for "Beolink 7000 recap" there are many threads about this. They "all" are now in need of new capacitors in the IR receiver, which causes the "no contact".

Thanks Jacob - presumably the capacitors can be obtained?

I cannot do soldering so perhaps I can find someone here that will do the job for an appropriate fee.

Yes, capacitors are very easy obtainable, but "quite" hard to replace without soldering skills, as 2 of them are SMD komponents and very small :)

You need to find someone to help you then.
