I finally got hold of the right cables for hooking up a standard mixer through line in on the Beovision 11. Through this forum actually so big thanks!

However, my Beovision 11 isn’t really quick enough to be suitable for mixing music live. I’ve set it to game node which improved latency immensely but it still isn’t good enough, as there’s a noticeable delay between touching the music and hearing the change.

Are there any other settings I can try to reduce the latency and preprocessing that goes on inside the Beovision? My previous receivers all had this problem and it could be bypassed by setting them to Straight, Pure Direct or similar, reducing processing and thereby latency.

Tyvärr tror jag inte det går. En Beovision är inte tänkt att använda på det sättet.

Sorry, that will most likely not be possible.

Hi Lundmark,

The Beovision 11 TV does have an internal latency that cannot be removed.  However, if you can please tell us more details of the speakers that you have got connected to the TV and of any other B&O products in the room, there may be another solution.

Also, if you have the model number of your mixer and details of which devices you use with the mixer please, that will be helpful.

Kind regards, Steve.

Thanks, that's what I suspected. I've got a pair of Beolab 9s in the front connected to the Beovision through PowerLink and a pair of wirelessly connected Beolab 17s in the rear. The mixer is a Reloop Mixtour and I use it with an iPad or Mac.

I've been thinking about connecting the mixer directly to the Beolab 9s instead. I've done that with the the Beolab 17s RCA inputs but they don't sound as nice as the 9s. Having the mixer connected to the TV would be ideal since I could use all four speakers at once but I understand that's not an option if I want to remove latency.

Hi Lundmark,

Thanks for your reply.  One option could be to change the mixer for one with more inputs, then potentially you could run the Front Powerlink signal from the TV into the mixer, then link the Beolab 9s to the mixer outputs.

This way, the front speakers can be used for music without the latency, the only issue is that the mixer would need to be powered on to play the TV to the front speakers.

Please let me know what you think and I can assist further.

Kind regards, Steve.

Sorry about the late reply. I missed it completely.

That’s actually a great idea! One could even use a passive RCA switch to stop having to turn on the mixer for causal use with the TV. I probably wouldn’t mix that often but I’d like to have the option and not having to run cables over the floor every time I get a feeling.

So the BL9s are currently connected with Powerlink (RJ-45 to DIN). I’m assuming I’d need RJ-45 to RCA cables to do what you’re suggesting, which is fine. But would I miss out on other features that the Beovision 11 and PowerLink offers?

I’m assuming there must be some reason B&O chose to go that route instead of using RCA like everyone else.

Hi Lundmark,

Please don't use any kind of passive switch on the inputs to Beolab speakers, this can cause major noise problems to the speakers when the switch is moved and it may risk damaging the speakers.

You would need to have just one permanent connection from the speakers to one device, either the TV or the mixer.  This cable would connect both Beolab 9 speakers to the RCA Master Out sockets of the mixer if you decide to bypass the TV to avoid the latency issues:-

Oh I see. Then this seems  like exactly what I need in order to not have to turn on the mixer every time. https://shop.oneremote.dk/product/oneremote-powerlink-speaker-adaptor/

And along with a few cables so that it'll be:

TV -> RJ45-DIN -> OneRemote Adaptor -> DIN-DIN -> Beolab 9 -> DIN-DIN -> Beolab 9.
