I would like to replace the black heavy floor stands/feet under my beolab 8000's with wooden ones.Does the weight of the defaukt stands have an actual function like dampening or stabiltity ?If so I would need to figure out how to add additional weight to the new wooden ones.Your answers would be highly appreciated.Pim
Obviously, without the heavy weight close to the floor, the speakers would easily fall.

The heavy weight is all about stability

Hi Pim,
I agree with the replies above - it may be better to look at making a wooden box as a cover for the existing metal bases, so that you keep the heavy weight and still have the look of a wooden base.
Kind regards, Steve.

Hi All,Thanks for all your quick replies, I will see if I can add extra weight to the new stands by adding steel plates in the wooden base.Kind regards Pim
I would recommend keeping the weight the same (or greater) than the original stands for safety, also the base of the stands should be the same size as the original stands or larger.
If you have children or animals in the house who may knock into the speakers, my advice would be to not risk changing the stands at all.
