Hello,

I have a beomaster 900 rg de luxe and I would like to modernize it as much as I can. I have a beogram 7000 but it can't go inside and I was thinking replacing the old beogram 1000 in average condition by a mint one, removing the old speakers and put a pair of beolab 3 inside for example.

I am searching the best solution with a reasonable budget in order to have a good sounding all in one Turntable center. I am ready to sell my white beogram 7000 as I don't have the place and the need of two turntable system.

I will listen mainly to classical music.

If there is a wireless solution, I could use eventually my main speaker system composed by bl5, 9 and 3.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to give them to me.

Thanks

ok, Forgive me for a radical and rather expensive suggestion but perhaps it can provide some inspiration.

First a couple of thoughts. Is a turntable in the same cabinet as the speakers a good idea? And the speakers will be placed quite close to the floor which isn’t great either

anyway, you should be able to remove the dividers in the left compartment? Surely that will then be big enough for the bg7000 and a bm7000? Add a blc 1611 and a blc nl/ml, perhaps a bs core, and a beoamp2 and you have a complete system. If you prefere to go and turn on the bm900 use that instead.

I wouldn’t put a Beolab in the old speaker cabinet. Maybe refurbishing the old units is the best option as they were used originally for a reason. A couple of cubes can help lift the sound a bit from the floor. A crazy thought could be an upwards angled Beovox 2-1.

hi kromer,

thanks for your suggestions. quite expensiv if I add every component you mentioned. the drawback of the beogram 7000 is its dust cover. no dust cover or a turntable with a removable dust cover would be more usable.

You are right, the use of others speakers inside the cabinet would be risky.

I have done more research and I think finally think that a preamp with airplay capabilities would be the easiest way. I have already a beosound essence connected to the aux of an ouverture and it allows me to stream any source to mainmain speaker system.

With a turntable connected to a preamp with airplay and wifi, then I could stream my vinyl and any other source I would hide into the cabinet. ijustdiscover the martin logan unison preamp. i need this kind of preamp but it doesn't seem to be availble in europa

Hello Olvisab,

This sounds like an interesting project!  To avoid too much extra cost, you could add a pair of Beolab 3 speakers quite easily via a wired connection from the 900RG speaker outputs as follows:-

Connect two speakers to the red and black speaker terminals on the back of the receiver using this special Attenuated Converter: http://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/33--attenuator-.html and then use this cable to connect the speakers to the output sockets of the Converter: http://soundsheavenly.com/powerlink-8-pin-din-connection/105-av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-using-the-powerlink-din-sockets.html

This cable can be used into the Tape input of the 900RG to connect an Echo Dot to give you streaming wireless music to the Beolab 3 speakers, plus voice control of your music (once the Tape input has been manually selected, of course):-

Kind regards, Steve.
