I want an audio solution, that I can very occasionally hook up to a projector to watch movies (in stereo is fine since I have a surround setup in another room).

I know the Beosystem 3 was more a full AV solution, which I think can be configured to work fine with only 2 or 2.1 speakers. Would it work through without screen connected, or connected but switched off. The idea would be to use the Beo4 to select the right input source.

Has anyone tried this setup, and how would the sound quality compare to a dedicated audio controller like the Beosound Essence or Core?

Can anyone see any pitfalls with this approach?

Hi

First obstacle will be if the BeoSystem 3 locked with a PIN code. You will need to connect a screen to be able to input the 4 digit security code. You will also need to be able to access the set up menu to configure your speaker connections and groups.

Of course if not connected to a screen you will also need an external ir sensor.

Thanks I was not aware of this, but I can easily hook up a screen to set it all up.

Do you have to enter the PIN every time, or just on full power off?

External IR sensor was the planned route.
