I couldn't resist to buy this poor beauty last week:
So far, so bad.
both knobs cracked, back plate bent and partially falling apart, woofer makes a scratching sound when manually pushed, the handle is bent, the (vinyl?) cover on the wood housing is torn, the housing itself is also rotten on the bottom, the whole battery compartment is missing and the string for the knobs is loose.
Of course I couldn't test it, no idea what kind of batteries it needs and how they are connected.
So, getting this thing back to life is no easy task it seems. Would also not make a lot of sense doesn't work on FM, it's longwave??
It would be fine with me just to use it as a decoration but in this condition it would be the antithesis of decoration:)
I already stripped it down yesterda and cleaned it a bit, now I'm looking forward to find a matching vinyl fabric to put on the housing (that I'm planning to fix with wood filler in advance). The vinyl fabrics on ebay are too thick I think, also they are printed to a leather-like look, wouldn't match the radio. Should anybody could give me some tips on that fabric issue, that would be helpful.
Also, the front is made of goldish plated tin, it's not brass unfortunately, so polishing would remove the golden color. I'm planning on getting it sanded as it's damaged around the knobs. Then gold plated? or painted?
Hope somebody around here can give me some tips

Please sell it to me, I'm desperately seeking for the glass panel!
I wiped off all the lettering on mine

Poor thing.But hey, what a challenge !
AM only.Longwave, Medium Wave and Shortwave.
The speaker is an oval 195/95 TV160, also used in Beolit 607(both AM and FM versions).
The batteries should be 6x 1,5V so 9V total. The same type of battery compartment is used in several other models so shouldn't betoo difficult to find. It's a two-part plastic housing that holds the batteries grouped 2x3 witha twist-lock to hold the two parts together.
And, as Leslie suggests, DON'T CLEAN THE PRINTED SIDE OF THE DIAL !

Impressive Leslie.
Is there anything you don't have?
Thanks for the tips Martin.
And Leslie, you should find a pen
Any ideas about the fabric they used?

Martin, is there anything you could do to prevent the lettering comes off e.g. using a sort of laquer?
I've made my own batterypack holder.
I'm not sure, Leslie. My thought is that, if even water will wash the lettering away, any solvent oralcohol would be even worse.

I certainly will !
Did this project ever fly ?
If it did; Please let us know how it came out.
If not; If you should consider parting it out, I would be interested in the set offive pushbuttons (just the plastic keytops) and the dial pointer. And I understand that Leslie would be interested in the dial glass.
