Today I have learned from Spotify support that they have removed Spotify Connect availability for B&O devices, such as my BeoPlay A9 mk1. This is due to business decisions made by Spotify and B&O and will affect all B&O devices.
In my case leaving me with a worthless expensive A9 speaker, but I am not the only one.... More on that and replies from both B&O and Spotify support here https://community.spotify.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/002/highlight/false/page/3/thre...
As Spotify states "You can add suggestions to our Community ideas board. Ideas that reach 100 votes are reviewed monthly, so be sure to keep an eye on the status of your idea."
I have invested in an expensive speaker and payed Spotify its monthly fee for over the past years and am stumped this decision has been made so I would love them to bring back that functionality. 100 votes seem to be enough to get this under their attention so please vote here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Idea-Submissions/Keep-Spotify-Connect-available-for-B-amp-O-devices/idi-p/4398861
Hi,

All the best!
What's the point of this "customer service"?
It is mor than obvious that you are employed by B&O to give tips and hunts they can't give themself officially.
This is more closer to spamming
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

I'm a ceramic artist and employed by nobody.
Just loving B&O design
What a funny thing ...
No problem Leo.
I will keep watching for software update experiences here, that's my
personal interest. And that's all.
Have a nice day
Hi
I'm not at all familiar with the A9. Has it got any sort of AUX input socket? If so Id connect a Google Chromecast to it and run your music from your phone. They're only £30 and to my ears the sound is great played through Beolab 9s
Cheers

I miss Spotify from my bs5, but had same experience with Crestron ( the biggest name in automation)
They have released a product... hybrid that supposed to have airplay, Spotify (not connect) and other services on it.
Sold it to few customers and after short while it was abandoned. No Spotify.
Again... denon avr's used to have Spotify. now is only connect.

My opinion is A9 is the best BeoPlay system by a long way and worth any effort you make to use it. Spotify Connect was a good idea that could be very troubling on the Essence. I do not miss it. It would be fine for me to attach the small player of your like to the back of A9 with hook and loop fastener and a USB cable.
