We have a standalone BV 11 and use it for music (netradio and spotify) and movies/tv obviously. We like to add just two rear speaker for giving the music just a tad more body and perhaps some (light) surround effects during movies. Setup in our TV corner (4 x 4 M) is not suitable for a full 5.1 configuration. We just want BV 11's integrated speaker to handle center, front L&R channels and add two extra speakers for the left rear and right rear channel. What Beolab would be a good idea? We love the design of the Beolab 6000.
would this sound setup work at all or does it give a strange sound stage? What Beolab would be a good choice for adding as a rears ? Thanks!
That would be possible - although not the best way to go for tv or movies with multichannel sound.
Add the new back-speakers, make a Speaker Group with the built-in (L/R) speakers and the new ones.
Be sure, that the TrueImage-upmixer is on - this with ensure, that the sound from the center channel of the soundtrack is mixed into the fronts.
Either make these settings for the main/first Speaker Group (normally called TV), or make an extra group this way.
In latter case you can assign that group e.g. to the tv source and have the first group for music listening.
Use these groups just as you like - you can also manually switch Speaker Groups, if you want to.
The User Guide of the tv (and the Technical Sound Guide) should tell you details on speaker setup etc.
As for which speakers to choose for behind - it is hard to give an advice there.
But if you like the 6000 and your room is fit for floorstanding speakers, why no go for them ;-)

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Many thanks for your detailed advice MM !
would love to hear from people who actually have used this setup with BL6000 or perhaps different set of rear BL’s. Thanks again MM
Someone has an idea what the height is cm’s of the woofer of BL6000 s? (One of them would be partly behind the couch)
That should say it:

elephant: However my wife frequently asks for the BL4s to be turned off (I like being scared by werewolves behind me, she doesn’t ).

Don’t ever tell her how to choose Speaker 3 manually ;-o)

Beolab 4 is my second choice, dealer has a nice secondlife set at the moment. So BV11 with two BL4's would make a nice setup for some easy music listening without big bass demands and watching movies with some light cinena surround effects ? Dealer has offered to do the setup and take into account all the speaker group setup tips by Millemissen !
Nice - let us hear how it goes, when all is done and working.
Depending on how much you want to spend, I would strongly suggest getting 4 BL3 with the Beolab 2 subwoofer. I myself own this combo and it is just perfect. In my apartment I have Beolab 9 with Beolab 6000 in the back and it does not sound as good as the Beolab 3!
One shoe doesn't fit all.
Guys, just returned from the dealer, we made a nice deal for the BL4's. He will install them upcoming friday..
we do not agree about the best speaker group setup yet. His advice was to configure the two BL's as being FRONTS although they are placed behind us in the TV corner!!
. His idea was configuring them as rears would make them a little useless in TV/Movies since REAR R/L surround effects are much more limited then FRONT R/L channel?!
I get the idea that Beovison 11 's intergrated speaker is pefectly capable of handling the FRONT L/R and CENTER channels by itself right ?? (And therefore using the BL4's for REAR channels only. This is exactly the setup Millemissen adviced as well.
Everything in a setup that you aim for will be a compromise.
Your job (and the dealers) is to make the best of it.
Your dealer is right, when he says that the rears are ‘a little useless’, when you watch tv....with sound from a stereo/2.0 source.
For what you asked in your initial post however, I’d still consider my suggestion (proper set up!) as the right one!
Since you can make multiple Speaker Groups, I’d suggest that you ask your dealer to setup two groups - your(and mine) and his own suggested one.
Afterwards you can switch between these to see what fits you best....in which listening/viewing situation.
You know that you can assign a specific Speaker Group to a specific source!
E.g. you can have one default group for tv watching and another for music listening etc....
Thanks MM , wil share the results here
