Hi there!
I was just taking a closer look at BL50 specifications and saw a Digital Power Link there. As I couldn't find anything on Google, I'd like to ask the community:
Does anyone knows what it is? Just a simple SPDIF via Power Link cable or anything special from B&O?
Cheers,
Dante.
BTW, what about Wireless Power Link? Is it the same thing as Wisa?
DPL is for time being used to connect the slave speaker to the master speaker (BL50/90).
Official definition is: 'Includes proprietary B&O data channels for inter-loudspeaker communication'.
It is based on the AVB (AudioVideoBridge/Bridging) technology.
Since there is a DPL-input port on the master speaker and the BS Core has a DPL-output port* it (IMO) is likely that it will be used for the communication
between source systems and the speaker/s in the future - as a successor for the old analog PL.
Note! There are no official statements or informations on this yet!
The WPL is basicly the same - using WiSA as the protocol for the wireless connection
*This output is declared 'for future use' in the specs of the BS Core.
Hope this helps answering your question.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
So, if the audio encoding is still following the traditional SPDIF format then the audio processing quality will be the same when compared to a BL5?
I did not say that - SPDIF is a specification, that can not be tweaked.
It is a digital protocol - Audio with Sampling Rate 192 kHz and with Bit Depth 24 (fixed) plus the PL-data.
That should be sufficient, I am sure.
As I wrote, we will have to wait for further details.
According to bola 50's service documents it's 100Mbps Ethernet
