Quick question and it is probably a stupid one so please be kind. I have just come across a beogram 1602 turntable. It seams to be complete except that it does not have the black plastic circular piece in the center. My question is this just a 45 adapter? Can I play a standard LP without this piece in place?
Hi and welcome to this forum - yes you're right it's "hole adaptor" and you certainly can play records without it unless you want play 45' singles and will have to buy adaptor for few bobs
Don't worry - be Happy
Thanks for the quick answer Bob. I appreciate it! Now to spend the $3,000,000 to get the cartridge fixed!
No problem,
not necessarily there are two re tippers in the US, Soundsmith, Benny Armina
If that's not good try: Axel in Germany for prices for re tipping.
Quiet reasonable (well it won't be thousands)

Hmm - I'm not sure about this model...But I know that on later models this center-piece is not only an adapter for 45'ers.
It is actually a switch that feels if there's a record on the platter. If it's not pressed down the arm won't move.
I cannot argue with this as I haven't got the model, (and the odds see one are slim being produced for US market) but by employing logic and looking at its controls, I wouldn't think so, for at least the 45's couldn't be played, there isn't reference in manual suggesting this - easy to check, put record on and press start
many models have pop up centre or twist to pop

It is so, that a 45 record also press the centeradaptor down -which makes the mechanism feel that a record is on the platter. You'll then see that (with a small 45 record) the centerpiece actually is lifting the record within the first couple of rotations - this tells the mechanism that a 7" record is on and makes the arm move to that position.
Believe me - I have several Beograms
haven't got slightest reason not to believe you,
perhaps you need to convince advice the guys wanting buying it ;)
I've said there isn't reference and I haven't got personal experience - would try the deck with record
I'm just coming back to records after years now and my BC3500 and BC2200 work differently, beside I'm still Noob with these "fancy stuff"
I know nothing
