I'm glad to see you bring up this topic. Aspects of the "primary" and "secondary" have seemed a bit mysterious to me as well. My best understanding is that it's a way to add sources from other NL multi-room products as local sources on any other device. This would be especially relevant for sources from a BL converter or from line-in. Of course, many sources such as "Deezer" and "TuneIn" would be rather redundant. This is different from the JOIN function that joins in on a source already being played on another device. For example, you might want to play a BeoGram turntable as a source in one room without wanting to play the sound in the room where the BeoGram is physically located.

BeoNut since '75
CB:To give an image, all the “producers” are listed, and each “consumer” call the “producer” he wants (2 max)
Here are 2 snapshots to show you what/where it is:
First go to configure/settings/Beolink
Then click on “Link to other products”
(I suppose my translation is ok)
There you reach the boxes where you can choose the main/secondary product to connect to.

Aussie Michael:I think the feature of main and secondary is a bit redundant as most of the new products have streaming (connnect) capabilities. At a point in time you may have had all your devices connected to your beovision (primary) and wanted to share those sources on (secondary) device. But now as the secondary generally has the same sources it’s irrelevant (generally)

The feature is very relevant. You need it for access to ML sources and line-in sources. Sometimes it can take very careful planning if you need access the sources from more than 2 devices. For example, I have 4 NL/ML converters. You must first make certain sources available on one device in order to add all of those sources to another device. Naturally, you likely would not want to tick the boxes for Deezer, TuneIn, etc, when those sources are already available as local sources.

I believe that the "Gateway" setting is for selecting whether you want the device to forward LIGHT/CONTROL commands. Unfortunately, this currently has no relevance for the music devices that now have no IR capability. As B&O continues this route of omitting IR and we keep replacing our legacy ML devices with NL audio devices, we are really going to need for B&O to make the audio devices work with the BeoRemote One BT so that we can interact with home automation via the BLGW.
I've had to use the LIGHT/CONTROL forwarding feature on an NL/ML converter that I have connected to a BeoVision 10 in my bedroom. The converter was necessary to play my bedroom's BeoSound Moment through the BeoVision 10's speakers. However, by thus removing my BeoVision 10 from the home's main ML network, the BeoVision 10 could no longer forward LIGHT/CONTROL commands on its own.
