I am about to play an order for BeoVision 7-40 without Blu-ray. I want to buy just a panel. I would like to have your opinion on this.

I do not have a BV7 ... so my opinion is just that, an opinion without facts
If you plan to have a bluray library I think the pros and cons are:
PRO: BV7 with BR will be a more integrated experience -- but some BR menus may be harder to navigate
CON: BV7 and its BR will lag technology changes in the BR scene ... but if BR is "dying" (and I am not sure it is !) because of downloads (definitely not likely in India unless the infrastructure has gotten a lot better lately) then this may be less of an issue
BeoNut since '75
I have bought the BV7-55 without Blu-Ray and I don't regret the decision. I think that the Panel and the TV and Blu-Ray Players have different life cycles and unbundling the two will give you more longterm flexibility.

Hi there,
I have a 7403D non BR. The price difference of an internal BR is 2000Euros which is quite epxensive! Furthermore if you eventually trade in you will lose a lot of money. Mine is connected to a Sony s480 and can be controlled by the Beo4 (works best with navigation model).
Why not wait for the forthcoming BV11? THe Beosystem 3 in 740 will eventually go... and the new BV11 will use the new v1 chassis. Its 4 to 5000 pounds cheaper with the same screen panel spec (200Hz LED 3D etc) including motorised stand. THe sound may not be as good as 740 however.......but with the price difference I think I can live with it.
Good luck
Vince
Hello. I prefer the 7-40 non DVD model (I think it looks better) however if you are planning on using a 7.4 the curve of the DVD player and the curve of the 7.4 both complement each other extremely well.
Also from a price point of view. I could put a ps3 in every room for 2000 euro or nearly have enough for a v1.
Hi Vince,
Besides of panel, I am impressed by the processor of BV-7. There are lots of options I could consider in future because of processor. Sound is as good as other variants. I am considering the without DVD and without blurays as the STB are delivering HD with recording option no point investing money in DVD or Bluray. But, I have a worry; somewhere I read that I can use USB if the unit have the bluray.
Thanks,
Kishor
Hi Martin,
The proposed panel is non-DVD and non-blu ray. I want to max benifits of STB which is showing HD movie. And, USB port.
Hi Elephant,
I opt this option because the infrastructure improved a lot in last two-three years.
